Sun Joe 13-Amp Electric Powered Leaf Mulcher Shredder, Compact Garden & Yard Mulch Machine

I love this thing! I killed my blower/mulcher trying to grind up the pine needles from my 3 pine trees.This item eats though them like they're nothing! With them broken down they will compost well and I can use them to fill in my new garden beds. I love the adjustable grinds. Easy to put together and use for a 70yo lady- and I think it is fun! I love a power tool.

Does exactly what it claims - shreds leaves. Don't expect it to save time - it just adds a step in the process. I added a loop of twine to the elastic cord which holds the bag to make it easier (see pix) to attach a bag. The air intake to cool the motor plugs up rapidly. Suggest you have a brush handy to clean it often. The cutting (shredding) lines don't last very long before needing to be replaced. I have bought several Sun Joe products and always found them to work exactly as advertised for a good price.

Easy assembly, lightweight, sturdy enough for what I use it for. It was a learning curve on how best to get those leaves to shred, but once i did i was very pleased with the result. For best results, remove all sticks/twigs/branches of any substance, as like in using a stand up weed trimmer, the thicker the brush, the more you will need to replace the cutting string. Safety glasses and a dust mask is needed at all times. This little machine has saved me countless trips to our recycling center and is helping tremendously in turning my shredded leaves into compost quickly. I recommend it for anyone who has a ton of leaves to deal with in the fall/spring.

This product was great for my project! I had another brand for several years and loved it too, but it died. After much ado, I chose the SunJoe to replace it. It has several features and more power than the other. The twine is so much easier to change - no tools needed. My whole need for this product is about pine straw. No other reviews seemed to talk about pine straw mulching. I have only reviewed two other things in my life and one of those was a vacation location. I have twenty 100' tall huge pine trees in my yard. I decided to use pine straw to make a pathway in my new wonderful raised bed garden. It took a few days but it is wonderful - almost like a carpet! You have to set the setting on "coarse" instead of "pine straw" or it would take forever and more twine than you could stand to use. My pathway is 84' x 3' x 2" thick. I did have to change the twine for every trash bag full of mulch. And you much be patient - go slow and put a big handful in at a time. It takes about 20 minutes to fill a bag. I am female and 5'10" tall. After each bag I changed the twine and rested and encouraged myself to do another one. It's a slow process. But - I LOVE IT!

This little really shreds leaves well. Much better than my vacuum blower. I make my own compost and mulch and need finely chopped leaves and this device delivers

This units does the job . I liked that the string is 1.0 vs the 0.8 on others. I also liked the more powerful 15 Amp motor vs the older model 13Amp. The stand with wheels helped moving it around using the same bag.I used black contractor bags so that I will turn to compost in the bag. I changed the string 2 to 3 times per bag. Will use star shaped string trimmer line when I use all the included cut string

The machine itself is easy to use and was helpful for me to chop hay for a horse that could not swallow regular hay. It was awesome in that respect. I did find however that the chopped product does tend to get caught up in the area just under the hole to feed in the stuff you want shredded. It then needs to be removed. I also wish the string would last a little longer but these are minor things in the overall performance. Customer service is excellent on this product as I had to return my first machine because of a switch problem and the replaced it with free shipping and a prepaid voucher to send the othe machine back. Very awesome service.

This could have been made better. As far as doing the job, it works great, but I had to modify it in several places. The biggest is the cooling air intake for the motor.There is a filter that is internal and cannot be cleaned without taking the whole thing apart, I put a pre filter on the outside that keeps the internal filter from getting completely blocked . Next I taped over any gaps or openings ,this keeps the leaf dust down. I use a strap to attach the bag, this seals it and keeps a lot of the leaf dust down.

It had a part missing and when I requested to send it back it was declined. So put it together the best I could and it did not work. NOTHING! Very disappointed that I wasted $100 on this piece of junk that is sitting in my tool shed. Do not buy this thing

this item doesn't work with smaller leaves like scrub and live oaks. you have to send the leaves through 4 or 5 times to get any kind of mulching achieved. the "string" that mulches only lasts 5 minutes until it needs replaced. highly disappointed. waste of money
