I've had my suspension for over 25yrs and a month ago the suspension part of the pliers snapped. Gerber /Fiskars group advised that it's over the 25yrs warranty and I couldn't provide proof of purchase or store location (25yr memory loss lol) and parts are not available.
I carry and use mine daily. I like feel in my hand as well as the peace of mind when I need it, it's there on my side. Not so good for protection. But knowing its there is always a relief.
Great tool, great price. Heres a few tips for some of you geniuses: Dont put the tool in the sheath backwards. there's a fat end and a skinny end...figure it out. Dont use a multi-tool when a tool designed for one purpose is required for the job. My goodness, if youre working on something more substantial get a tool box and use real tools! A multi-tool is just a handy thing for a man to carry for quick easy jobs when out and about. If you have to put so much force on it that it breaks, you're an idiot and should have used a wrench or a screwdriver. Having said that the sheath does suck.
This tool will come in handy for a wide variety of applications for me.
Good tool… great tool for the price… much less than the competition. Have had this tool for a year now. So time to write a review. I really do like this multitool and wear it daily… and use it daily. Would have given it 5 stars but for one thing. The nylon sheath included with the tool is rubbish. It broke down within 2 weeks and had to find a leather sheath out in the market. The leather sheath cost more than the tool! Other than that, it is great. Came with a good assortment of tools that are usable and the blades were sharp. MY EDC!
Very good compact tool, opens and closes easily. I like the spring loaded pliers. Locking mechanism does not slide open easily unless you push it with your thumbnail, which is a little tough on the nail. I am hoping it loosens up with some graphite or oil. Once opened and locked tools are solid.
Worked GREAT for everything for a year. The locking bar for the handle broke. I contacted warranty claims to try and get a replacement part so I could fix it, but haven't heard anything back for several weeks. It was good while it lasted, but without the ability to repair it when this part breaks I will have to replace it with a different brand.
Quality knife, weighted nice ,major uses BUT VERY AGGRESIVE DESIGN TO SHAPE OF KNIFE . IT COMES WITH NO HOLSTER . INSTEAD GERBER PUT A POCKET CLIP ON IT .WHEN YOU PUT IN YOUR POCKET THE KNIFE BODY RUBS UP AGAINST YOUR HAND SCRATCHING YOU OR PINCHING YOU . TEMD OF MULTITOOL BINDS YOU
It really seems like it should be a great, lifelong product. I was given this as a gift (in packaging) from a former employer and upon first use, the spring loading mechanism broke off. First use. I haven't wanted to pitch it so it sat in a drawer for years. I stumbled upon it again recently and figured I'd get it fixed just to take advantage of their warranty offer. Reading through the other reviews, this seems like a common problem. Hope they figure out that design flaw.
I bought mine about 6 years ago. Can opener has poor grip and is dull. It gets the can open but it's a hack job compared to others this style. I struggle getting the tools turned out with my hands. I always have to find something to lift them out. Same goes for the locks. They are what frustrates me the most. It takes way too much pressure to disengage the lock. I have to find a tool to push the lock down because I can't do it with a thumbnail or finger pad. I do use it so I won't be looking for another for a while but I will take my time testing every brand next time before I make the purchase.
