These are the filters you're looking for. They have a fine cloth mesh to trap particles and activated charcoal to get rid of chemicals and odors. I used a Tetra filter with these cartridges for years, but when that filter broke, I tried a different type of sponge filter, and my aquarium was brown and the sides were getting stuff built up on them. I threw it away and got a new Whisper Quiet filter...within a couple days my water was so clear you'd be tempted to drink it. For a small aquarium, this is the perfect size filter. You only need to change it once a month, and that's only because the carbon in the activated charcoal starts to be less effective.

I have the small size filter, so these are simply perfect for the 1 1/2 gallon tank. I like that I can simply slide out the old one, & slide in a new one. It makes cleaning the fish tank so much easier. My only problem, is finding the size small in any stores. To solve this problem I ordered 2 packs on line. Hopefully they will last awhile. Thanks for a great & easy filter.

I had to order these six packs on line because they frequently sell out at the Walmart store as Walmart is the only store that carries them and their price is the very lowest.

These are so much cheaper buying them by the pack thank individually. So glad I looked online for them. Will continue to purchase these online and save myself some money. Great value.

Fairly good product for a filtration system purposed for very small fish tanks. Unfortunately the pumps do not serve as well... they do not last very long and force replacement of entire system.
