I bought this little gadget for Cat's house after she bragged about having a meat thermometer that apparently lives in a parallel universe. She'd say, “I've got a thermometer,” and then I'd end up guessing the chicken's internal temperature by the color of my imagination. This thing finally gave me a solid number to work with, and the results were surprisingly edible. First off, the battery life is like a hamster on a treadmill - it keeps going as long as you remember to pop in the little discs. I slipped the batteries in, and the LCD lit up brighter than a Thanksgiving turkey under a spotlight. The backlight is a lifesaver when you're peeking at the oven at 3 a.m. and don't want to wake the whole house. The magnet on the back is a marvel. I stuck it to the fridge, to the metal side of the grill, even to the underside of the stovetop (don't try that at home). It stays put better than my resolve to diet, and it means I never have to hold the probe like a sword in a duel with my own dinner. I've used it for baking a loaf of bread, which is basically a test of whether the thing can handle anything other than meat. It didn't explode, didn't smoke, and the bread rose like a hopeful soufflé. Speaking of smoke, this device itself doesn't emit any, which is perfect for non-smoking zones like Cat's apartment where the landlord threatens to evict anyone who triggers the fire alarm with a rogue bacon strip. The USDA presets are a nice touch for the lazy chef who can't remember if 165 degrees is safe for chicken or if that's the temperature for a sauna. I just hit the preset, stuck the probe in the thickest part of the bird, and let the timer do its thing. The chicken came out golden, juicy, and most importantly, without any visible blood. No one died, no one called an ambulance, and the only thing that screamed was my stomach. I left the probe at Cat's place in hopes it will survive the Thanksgiving chaos. If it does, we'll finally have a turkey that's not a mystery meat experiment. Until then, I'm happy to recommend this gadget to anyone who wants to stop guessing, avoid smoke, and keep their batteries from dying mid-probe. It's accurate, it's magnetic, and it won't set off the fire alarm. What more could a home cook ask for?
I generally don't comment but it was worth the money. My only issue is delivery when it comes from the Walmart or the companies that most people never heard of are always a disaster a few of those companies say out for delivery and I find out it means nothing can take up to three days after pt says that.
Absolutely love this for grilling!! You can stick it in and leave it so it reads the temp of the barbecue -up to 900 degrees! It has REVOLUTIONIZED the way I use my barbecue. I gave 4 stars for ease of use because I don't know how to shut the beeper off yet (I'm sure that's in the instructions I haven't read yet!)… so I just crank the heat it registers at up to 500 degrees… but you have to do it 1 degree at a time, so it took a min (again- maybe there's a faster way I haven't found). It's supposed to be accurate - a degree… takes a second to register. I own a thermapen that registers almost exact temp %26 almost instantly. I love that one, but it cannot do what this one can… so I think they both have a place in the kitchen. If you have something you need an instant read on %26 doesn't need constant temping, thermapen might be a good choice… but ummm… you could just stick this in your oven, or your baked good %26 watch it from outside the oven. So if I had to choose between the 2… I would actually choose this one even though the other is top of the line, best of the market. (Still love the thermapen… just being honest). Apart from the ease of use, it's a champ. HIGHLY recommend.
Upon turning on the digital thermometer, we discovered that this product is a game-changer for our household. No longer do we have to run outside every few minutes to check on a rack of ribs. We no longer need to open the oven to dip a manual temperature gauge in the turkey or roast to ensure the meat is cooked to the right temperature, which means fewer burned fingers. I can't say for sure how long the batteries last because I haven't used it enough to determine its lifespan. However, I highly recommend this product to anyone. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my wife, who is an amateur chef and does most of the cooking in our household. She absolutely loved the ThermoPro. The meter is easy to read, and the digits are clear.
good product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The ThermoPro TP716W is a digital meat thermometer designed for grilling and in the kitchen. It offers features like a timer and backlight for enhanced usability. it is intuitive design and rugged case is very beautiful and works great. You can use this thermometer with any meat products like beef chicken or turkey. It operates on a battery and has on and off switch when need to use it. The built on this thermometer is very well made and it is very sturdy to use indoor or outdoor for grilling. It has magnetic back for easy store. It also has preset timing, alarm and a countdown timer.
very quick temperature readings, I wish it had a removable display
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good basic thermometer. The preselected meat temps are a good reminder but the beef temps are not exactly accurate. For example rare beef is not 145° and medium is not 160°. Temperature is pretty accurate. Back lighting is nice for grilling after the sun goes down.

I bought this for Thanksgiving and it said my turkey was ready an hour before it really was! Complete waste of money.
