Thank goodness you still had this color. Ran out right in the middle of re-doing my porches!
I was hesitant at first, because it brushed on pink! it's definitely a nice brick/rustic red. It seems to do the job, as the parts I have stained, have had standing water on them (as opposed to the wood soaking the water up!)
Great product, using it for my G scale railroad for back yard. Made 2X6 tables 30 inches off the ground. Water just rolls off buildings and tables. Love the light red color.
I tried another brand and didn't like it at all. I went back to THOMPSONS. It goes on really good, drys fast and the color, Rustic Red is Rich, Beautiful and Seals my wood privacy perfectly. I love it.
After cleaning and power washing a 7 year old redwood fence, I applied the water seal. It was easy to apply, covered well and dried quickly. Cleanup was also easy and quick with soap and water. However, I was very disappointed in the final outcome. As shown in the picture I attached, the final color did not match what Walmart shows on their website. Also, the color in my picture isn't quite accurate. The real color is more like a “barn red”. Also, I was looking for a transparent stain, so that I could see the grain in the wood. Unfortunately, this stain IS NOT transparent. It is more like a solid stain or paint. So, if you want to see the grain, you will need to purchase another product. If you are looking for a solid stain, you will probably like the product. I returned the stain to Walmart for a refund.
I ordered but did not find this product at the store. They delivered a different product sadona red..
The box was dropped and all cans dented, shaking them to mix up contents will probably cause them to leak
Did not receive correct color..........not Rustic Red.....received Sedona Red!
Worst product I have bought in years. Let a brand new deck age for a year then cleaned it and sanded as recommended. Let dry for over a week and applied this. Within 6 months 20% of it pealed off like it was paint. A full year later and 40% flaked off. Because there was now bare wood I couldn't just apply another coat to hope is stuck and matched. It took almost 2 weeks to clean all the old off and prep the deck again. Like an idiot I bought this product again hoping it was just a bad batch the first time. I really liked the color and is was easy to use....and after all it's Thompson's which usually means a good product. I had the exact same results again. A wood stain should not come off in flakes like it's paint. Another year later and 2 weeks of prepping the deck and I will not be using a Thompson's product this time.
I bought some TWS well over a decade ago to put on a kids play set/swing set--some dark brown color. I spent the big bucks on the decks. I was thoroughly impressed with how that stuff stayed on the play set and did its job for so long. Since it was time to do the decks again, I decided to get TWS . I was totally expecting it to penetrate into the wood like the previous stuff I used on the play set did years ago. I bought the TINTED rustic red. It pretty much made a layer on top of the wood--didn't really penetrate in. It acts as though I bought a semi transparent to a solid stain. Withing days the steps were showing wear and you can see the blond wood underneath. Not cool--a waste of my time. How do I get this stuff off?
