I thought about spending an extra $10 for a slightly bigger set due to the negative reviews. However, this looked similar to one my brother owns. Me and my husband have been playing on it with no issues.. It has a magnet to secure the pieces inside and my kids can't open it. Great size. Compact storing. Very happy with my purchase. It's great to find wooden games and toys these days with everything being made of plastic. This is a nice set. The board closes up into a box that holds the chess pieces. Portable and easy to store.

with 32 small pieces expected to be stored inside, why isn't there a clasp of some sort to hold the box/board closed?

Before reading the actual dimensions of this board I relied on one of the pictures in the ad which was a different much larger board. That image of a larger board should not have been included in the photos which were supposed to illustrate only this board.

need to know why it didn't come in the box display with this image and it looks used and old. plan on giving as a christmas gift to my stepson and this is the worst

When they say Book style, it is actually paperback book size. The chess pieces are only maybe 1 inch tall. I took back, returned and bought different set.
