Vicks VapoCool Sore Throat Spray, Benzocaine & Menthol, Over-the-Counter Medicine, Winterfrost, 6 fl oz

I had a sore throat for a couple of days and finally did a home delivery of this and some non-drowsy antihistamine and some sore throat lozenges....I used the spray right away, then took an antihistamine and the lozenges were not necessary....the spray did the trick...used it again before I went to bed and by morning the sore throat was gone. No ick taste, easy to use.

I've used other throat spray but this spray works better than any of them. The menthol really helps the sinuses.

So let's be honest this is one of those over-the-counter medications you buy because you want to at least try to treat your health problem at home before you end up taking a trip to your doctor's office or to urgent care and spend an arm and a leg. And if you have a sore throat using this spray will definitely buy you a day or two before you end up going to see a doctor and who knows, in that time your sore throat may go away on its own so yay no doctor's bill. Like 99% of all OTC medications like this it's essentially a bottle of alcohol and water, in this case with just enough benzocaine and menthol to hit your mouth with a cool, minty burn that feels like it's beating your sore throat into sweet sweet submission. The thing is though is it says right on the bottle not to swallow this stuff so if your sore throat is any deeper than the back of your mouth this probably won't help very much. But it's worth a try and may get you past your sore throat without a trip to the doctor.

I was hoping for a product that would numb the membranes of the throat so that even temporarily it wouldn't hurt to swallow but this isn't it. You may want to us a flashlight and a mirror to better aim at the back of the throat or you will numb everything else like the lips and tongue. It stings for a few seconds when it begins to work but the numbing effect on the throat is weak and doesn't last long.

Yes it works, but it's a horrible taste! It's more like a gross version of a Robitussin flavor that's been overly mentholated. And not a fresh minty cool. It's an immediate spit-out and then to get that gawd-awful taste out, you HAVE to rinse, which then diminishes the efficacy. There's another brand that has a better flavor of mentholated cherry.

This stuff burns my throat so bad it's hard to swallow. I've tried it when I'm sick as well as no symptoms and it always burns my throat

It definitely numbs the throat but too much for me personally. I did not notice any heartburn, or tickle.

i thew it down the toilet. thats how bad it was. i buy gum because i have dry mouth. i order Act. i trief to order another on. you declined my purchase. i bought it some where else

I thought this would of been mint flavored. it taste like green cold medicine or licorice. I will NEVER buy this again. Give waste of money because i can't tolerate the taste to use it.
