Several times a year we have a mole problem and have tried other products that did not succeed. We have no pets or little curious children around daily to worry about them trying to pull the trap up. This Victor Mole Trap is made of heavy duty Construction and has stood up to the task.. We followed the instructions as recommended. First we watered the lawn around the active areas This will make it much better to set the trap This trap is set off by the Slightest movement This also keeps the food supply lower to the ground for the moles. Then we made a 2"hole in the raised ground thru to the tunnel. We waited 1 day then set the trap. We monitor it frequently and move the trap when necessary. Sometimes it's hit or miss. It depends on activity or the depth of the tunnels.. We noticed that it works best after watering the lawn or a heavy rain. Activity is slow right now. We recommend this product to our friends.
So there no issue so far because I have only try it once.
For many years we have fought moles on our acreage. Nothing we tried was satisfactory. We have tried mole traps before but they were hard to set and many times the mole got away from us. The Victor Deadset Mole Trap is the best we have ever used. It came fully assembled so we didn't have to do anything but follow the instructions printed on the box. It has long, sharp spears that are easy to insert in the ground. It has a built in trigger that senses the slightest movement and it quickly and easily kills the mole so we don't have to remove it from the trap and kill it. We have had moles in our front yard and they did a lot of damage to our lawn, but no more thanks to the Victor Deadset Mole Trap. Another advantage is that the sharp spears are located below the ground so we don't have to worry about our grandchildren getting hurt by them.
Trap is very well built and extremely easy to use compared to other brands that I have used. There are two features that stand out with the Victor trap. One is that it is super easy to release the trap when you want to move locations, simply push a button on the side of the trap and the trap will uncock. The second is that the trigger mechanism, part that sets trap off, does not get crooked on you while setting the trap. That's is very aggravating if you haven't experienced it. The Victor Mole Trap is definitely worth a try if you have a mole issue!
I've had traps before from other brands. It was always a hassle trying to get them set. It seemed they were always triggering right as I walked away. Victor's Deadset trap doesnt have that issue. It is extremely easy to set and has had zero "false" triggers. It's a sturdy product made of durable plastic and so far has been reliable.
This Victor Deadset Mole Trap is of decent size and easy to set. It comes with full easy instructions to set the trap and also provides a website to go to, to watch a video of the installation which is actually not needed since the unit is easy to insert. Although it is advertised as a trap it does actually kill the rodent with spears, so if you are concerned about killing the rodent then this trap is not for you. I know some people would rather trap the animal and release it in the woods or a different location where the rodent will not be a pest to their property. However, if this is not a concern to you then this device seems to be a good source of ending your pest problem once and for all. The spears are in the ground so this would not be harmful to children or pets unless they are digging in the location where the trap is placed. I set this up yesterday. As of now, the trap has not been triggered but I have high expectations that this will be the answer to my pest problem.
Easy to set up for use. Have not seen any moles or rodents in my yard lately, so I'm assuming thus works. It is very lightweight and easy to use. I'm hoping it keeps all the rodents out of my yard so I can enjoy my garden. I would recommend this product to anybody who has rodent problems. I believe it is a great product.
I had an older version of a trap like this that was nearly impossible to set because of the physical strength required. I bought this one and was very happy with it. Hold it down with your feet on the protruding tabs, large handle to pull up, easy. However, after the third time I moved it to a mole problem site, it would not set no matter what I did. It was like trying to pull start a dead lawnmower. Am returning it for refund. I think it is a great design and these traps are effective on active mole tunnels; I was obviously using it on inactive ones, kind of hard to tell the difference, but I would have got him eventually. I'm hoping this one was just defective so I can order another and continue the battle. I will not use poison pellets because of the foxes, hawks and owls in my area that could die from eating a poisoned mole.
I hve done lots of reaearch on products to quell the mole/vole issues. These have popped up online. they are a bit tricky. you have to really reasearch the "active" tunnels and then set and watch/move. they also are very touchy. i cover with a milkcrate as birds and other motion can set them off. Been using and moving 2mo. no catch/kills.
product caame broken. no handle attached, so unable to activate
