I particularly appreciate the 22 1/2" length of the cutters as my 48 inch width evergreen bushes are difficult to prune otherwise. At the age of 81 years, I found the 6 1/2 lb weight of the unit to be a bit annoying but after continuing use, I overcame this, knowing that a powerful motor, doing a super job of cutting, more than made up for the weight problem. One other minor problem is that the user must constantly keep his finger on the switch. This is designed deliberately as a safety feature but, nevertheless, this too was annoying.
Very light weight to use for a lady. Cuts really nice. Easy to store. Love having the blade protector.
Pleasantly surprised at how this little gem sliced thru my hedges!!! My hedges took out two other trimmers but this one did it!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The model 51490 22 inch hedge trimmer is superior compared to the 14 inch non-Toro trimmer that I had been using. The Toro cuts through branches that caused my previous hedge trimmer to jam, requiring me to hit the end of the trimmer on the ground or the driveway to undo the jam and get it cutting again. With the 22 inch blade, I could reach further into the hedge without cutting my arms on the branches closest to my body. I also like the way you plug an extension cord into the trimmer. I am thoroughly satisfied with my Toro hedge trimmer.
I've only used this bush trimmer once so far (but on a number of fairly thick evergreen bushes) and this thing cut like a hot knife through butter. Almost seemed effortless. Good power and blade length. Since I've only used it once so far I couldn't give a 5 for dependability but I assume it will last a long time. Has a good weight to it. I also have the 24 volt cordless hedge trimmer and that works very well also, though I haven't put it to the test on thicker bushes, but that's what I bought this corded model for.
I purchased this Toro hedge trimmer to replace another leading brand. I have been totally satisfied with this product. I have considerable amount of hedges around my entire home, and I was able to complete the job with the Toro in about 4 hours. With my older hedge trimmer it would take about 5 to 6 hours to complete the same job. I believe the difference is the quality of the blades of the Toro which cuts at a faster pace, and more even cutting. I would highly recommend this trimmer to anyone.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This trimmer is the best, lightweight, which makes it easy to cut into the hedges at a distance. Even though it is lightweight, it makes a strong cut with little effort, very pleased with the tool, lastly the price was right, very economical.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's fast, light weight, makes clean cuts and fairly quiet. Truly a great product and a pleasure to use, and I have enough shrubbery to landscape a mid-size state park! I highly recommend it to anyone who trims their own shrubs.
Bought the Toro becasue it had a longer wand than others in the same price range. I bought a house and the previous owners had let things slide. The bushes were up against the house and windows. I'm sure it was years since they were trimmed. I tore into them not knowing how the Toro would do. It held up great even though I was abusing it for its size. I've only had it for a year but so far I'm impressed for it size and it being an electric model.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have this item for a month or so. It replaces a Toro electric hedge trimmer I had for 20 plus years. It is more than powerful enough for the hedges around my property and is lighter weight than the others I had considered.
