Audubon Woodpecker seed block is absolutely great. Woodpecker %26 other large %26 small birds peck on it. This was my 1st time for this block %26 was surprised that it stayed together during the rains, freezing winter snows and now the heat. They all peck %26 peck %26 still stayed together, not like the others I have bought. It was a good buy because it holds toghter and is all seed without the usual filler that's added.
My woodpeckers love these blocks! I buy the 2lb ones so they fit in the large hanger. There is a good deal of waste with them, but it's bc the birds chip away at them all the time. My dog loves cleaning up after them! 🤣 To me, it's worth the extra cost. I have a variety of woodpeckers that come to feast. I have used peanut butter in the past %26 it works well too, but these are more convenient and easy to hang.
Great to feed the woodpeckers, squirrels, BlueJays, since adding this to their BUFFET I provide each week! All are thriving, have brought family, and I have a wildlife treat of chirps and games out there to watch! I also have added Equate honey roasted peanuts and the squirrels come TAP ON MY GLASS DOOR! Which of course drives my Persians nuts! But hey, they want their delicious food! Lol. Nature is abundant and fun when you care to feed them with excellent foods, annd esp fun when the BlueJays imitate a hawk, in order to clear the yard of everyone else, so they can pig out! Some are wise though, catch on to those schemes!
one of the best seed cake varieties! i pretty much only ever get the woodpecker mixes; everyone seems to prefer the larger nuts and seeds. most other seed cakes varieties ('songbird', 'gourmet', 'cardinal'...) have lots of filler seeds that the birds don't actually like very much, like millet and safflower. they're on the expensive side, but they're a favorite of mine and they last a long time, just try to get them in bulk if you use them a lot. they fit well in a standard large seed cage, and they can also be cut down to fit into the standard tall and small shaped cages.
This is the best food I have found for all kinds of birds. I got it to attract woodpeckers, but the dang blue jays eat it up before they have much of a chance to dine. The woodpeckers do love it as well as the smaller birds like nuthatches, chickadees, cardinals and tufted titmice. It hangs near my dining room large window, and we love to watch all the birds.
We have at least 4 different types of woodpeckers and flickas and they ALL love these seed cakes. Very reasonably priced. Packed full of goodies for our woodpeckers and flickas. Very convenient to be able to order the seed cakes online.
Extremely easy to use. You will need to ensure you have a large size holder for it. Take off the plastic and insert into your holder. Hang up and watch the wildlife enjoy a snack.
The birds %26. Squirrels in my yard so love this bird cake along with the woodpeckers. ! I've bought them several times. K I highly recommend this product
This is a great bird seed block..the ONLY problem is watch if you do order pick up.. all though the pick persons have done a great job..some must NOT KNOW .. DO NOT PUT A CRUMBLED BROKEN BLOCK in a persons order.. REALLY???Think about it people..do you think a busted up crumbled block will work in the block holder??..Answer ..NO WAY
Several bird species that stop by my bird feeder daily were not interested in this. The 2 woodpecker species especially. After all that I crushed it up on the ground. The Sparrows and Mourning Dove's ate it.
