The mix of seed gives you a variety of birds coming to the feeder. Mostly sparrows, cardinals and chickadees. Any excess seed that falls from the feeder, goes to the hopper under the feeder and I dump the excess from the hopper into a central area for the birds to eat off the ground.
Downy woodpeckers and other birds loved this one. Doesn’t have a ton of blueberries but seems to go over better than other flavors. Will likely stick to this flavor going forward. The birds went through it quickly where other flavors sometimes linger.
We actually started getting flying squirrels coming to the suet (they have become regulars and YES flying squirrels)! I had no idea we had them in New England. Happened to be out late night and heard something coming from the feeder, flashed my phone light and there were 3 of them snacking on the suet! Adorable! We get a ton of various birds in the daytime too and they are just as crazy for it. I use gloves to change it because they can be a bit messy. Wish the price was a little bit less considering one doesn’t last very long at all and I am having to put 2-3 out at a time. So it adds up fast.
these are super cheap and way easier than trying to make your own. lots of beautiful birds and woodpeckers love this stuff. I recommend putting it in one of those baskets that you can hang from the tree on a bungee cord to keep nuisance Birds away. the birds that can hang on upside down are the beautiful ones. plenty of berries
The woodpeckers absolutely love this! It didn’t take long for them to find it, and once they did, it was like their personal snack bar opened for business. It holds up well in the feeder and keeps them coming back. If you enjoy a little backyard bird entertainment, this one’s a winner. Definitely keeping this stocked for my feathered regulars.
Saw -0- sign of any "fruit" of any kind, unless you are counting cracked corn as a fruit. Crumbles getting it out of container. The woodpeckers are going after the pieces of a prior very different suet cake( that is below it, and very inconveniently located), so they clearly have a preference for NOT THIS ONE. I expected some kind of berries, or raisins, or some such: nada.
I purchased the berry mix hoping the birds would ignore our fresh blueberries. I have to go by our many birds visitors including a daily crow. We put this berry suet cake in our double suet bird feeder. We filled the other side with the hot pepper suet cake. Both were placed at same time. They all tried but did not return. 1/4 of the berry cake is gone. The chili pepper caked is completely gone.
Very poor and birds don't like it. Walmart seems to have dropped C%26S brand in the store and is now stocking Pennington. I don't like Pennington. Neither do the birds. Watch out for Walmart substituting Pennington when you order another brand. I returned this item to the store.
Mealts everywhere, birds wont eat it and now i have a big mess on my deck to clean up. This is just a bad product and nothing like the C and S brand Im used to buying from walmart. I will not buy from this brand again since clearly quality isnt their priority.
I was so excited to receive this. Unfortunately,, the birds don't eat it! I live in San Diego California, and we have a wide variety of birds, but nobody seems to be attracted to coming and eating this out of the side of the birdfeeder. I even put it flat in the bird dish and nobody wants it, not even crows. Here I was thinking I'm giving them something that's great for their nesting season, but nobody's even tasted it! Very sad. This morning I tried breaking some up in little pieces and scattering it on the ground and I have yet to go out and check to see if they ate it. It would've been a great buy for the money if the birds liked it.
