The birds loved this. We had 5 different species of woodpecker (downy, hairy, red-bellied, pileated and yellow-shafted flicker) plus bluebirds and warblers. Unfortunately it was stolen by a racoon, who also liked it.
This suet feeder was a great price - only $7 on sale and it has been working out perfectly! The suet cakes fit perfectly in it and as soon as I hung it up, the Starlings found it and they've been going crazy over it. I think they went through 2 suet cakes in just a couple weeks! But the suet cakes are inexpensive ($1.74 each) and it's fun to watch the Starlings fight over it every day🤣 very entertaining for me and my cat.
Excellent construction, very sturdy. I live on a balcony so with heavy sting I lashed the cage to the balcony… I waited 6 days and finally the birds came…mostly sparrow. I saw a larger bird but by accident I scared the birds came away. I purchased 2 ,one for food another for cotton to insulate their homes… for some reason the birds like peanut butter..which I put on the cotton too. Happy bird watching
This little double suet feeder works great! Well made, powder coated steel w/ a plastic roof, this feeder is easy to use, sturdy %26 durable. It has a red plastic roof (I'd prefer green) which keeps out some of the rain %26 snow. It snaps open %26 stays closed easily. Fits Pennington suet precisely (various flavors available) %26 the birds love it. The Black-capped Chickadees (Poecile atricapillus) %26 the Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) eagerly consume suet of either of two flavors. It's inexpensive, the birds need it for cold winter nights %26 fun to watch. Buy at least one. ... ... ... BluJ ... ... Joie de Vivre !
I love these types of feeders because I can put 2 suet cakes in them. I'm not liking my squirrels or the random skunks/racoons. I had 2 brand new feeders hung up and full. I looked out and to my surprise noticed they were gone! I found 1 in my yard empty but locked up! it was hard for me to open these new ones but apparently those whatever animals had no problem! lol
I loved the clearance price on them so I had to get one. It's a great suet holder for 2 cakes. My woodpeckers and birds love the suets and I'm giving them several ones to enjoy. They make me happy and I always try to make their visits the best.
Bought these to put materials in for the birds to use for nesting. Then when that's over I can use for suet this winter. Very good quality. Locks good and tight but easy to open. So cute hanging in my yard.
This suet feeder is very well built as far as it's sturdiness, but is a bit of a pain to open. It has been completely inaccessible to the squirrels. It has outlasted all of my suet feeders and even the raccoons have a difficult time getting it open. That being said, I too have a difficult time getting it open! LOL!! Especially on very cold New Hampshire mornings, but overall a sturdy, good quality suet feeder. But once opened very easy to load and I like the fact 2 suet cakes fit perfectly.
ok but worried eventually the plastic top will break down in the sun over time. a metal roof like other products have is better. squirrels can chew on this one so cant use it out in the open
I have used the single suet feeders for a very long time, and I thought this double suit feeder would be great! There is only ONE reason why I did not rate everything five stars!! Everything about this suet feeder is awesome, except for one important factor! When I use single suet feeders, I get woodpeckers on them all the time! After watching the double suet feeder for several weeks, I noticed that not one single woodpecker would go on the double feeder!! My husband and I could only think that the woodpeckers do not like the blue roof, for WHATEVER reason! :-) To remedy this issue, I'm going to take metal cutters and literally cut the roof off of the feeder. Yes, the suet won't stay as dry, but at least the woodpeckers will come and eat from it! Dumb birds anyway! Lol!
