My daughter is gluten free and I have never used this brand. She came to our home on Christmas Eve for breakfast. I decided to use this to make our whole family pancakes. They turned out fully and the taste was great! I’ve used other brands in the past and didn’t get close to the taste, quality or amounts it makes. This way exceeded my expectations. I’m sure I could use it with my family and they could not tell any difference!! My husband, me, her and her husband couldn’t believe how good they were and I used the whole box it made a bunch!! I would highly recommend this because truly I don’t think anybody would know unless they were told!!
Being forced to eat gluten free stuff has been a daunting task for 10 months now. This product is in my opinion makes better tasting pancakes than bisquick. I've used their other gluten-free products with similar results. I can't vouch for the biscuits recipe yet but it makes the best pancakes ever for us celiacs.
I added a little more flour than suggested for a pie crust which made it easier to work with. Use your own judgement.
I used to use Bisquick frequently, then I made my own version of it. Then I had to give up gluten, and for years, there was nothing to use. When I discovered Pamela's baking mix, I was pleased. It wasn't perfect, but it is good if you want a heartier, more robust mix. I used that for several years, and tried a few alternatives here and there, that just weren't worth the bother. When my daughter in law went gluten free a few years ago, my son who does all the baking and cooking tried a few mixes and then found the King Arthur. They loved it, and he kept telling me to try it. After more than a year, I finally tried some. Most stores here do not carry it, and the ones who claim to have it, hide it so successfully that I have never been able to find it. When I saw Walmart had it, I bought two boxes. It made the most delicious waffles I have had in more than ten years. They tasted light, not heavy and gritty, and the biscuits are wonderful. This is now a staple in my pantry. Gluten free is expensive but Wally has the best price I have found so far. I wish my local store had it, but since it doesn't and since I subscribed to Shipping Pass, it is very easy to get it, and I don't have to pay shipping costs or buy fifty dollars worth to get free shipping! Living gluten free is hard sometimes, but Walmart has a great selection and makes it that much easier. I have also tried the King Arthur flour blend, which I liked, and am anxious to try the cake mixes.
I am so thankful to have thoughtful friends who introduced me to Gluten Free King Arthur. When traveling they stopped at King Arthur and bought muffin mixes for me. The muffins were wonderful! So good, in fact, I had to try the All-Purpose Baking Mix so I could create my own desserts from the berries we grow on our farm. It is hard to find something GF to grab when you're in a hurry or traveling. I now make my own healthy muffins using King Arthur GF All-Purpose Baking Mix. I tried making my own flour. It was an exercise in frustration and extremely expensive. This discovery came at a time in my life that I was so frustrated with the restrictions that being GF put on my life that I didn't even want to think about eating much cooking for my family. King Arthur has opened a door that has made my life so much richer and much more simple.
This makes the best, most realistic biscuits, waffles, and pancakes. We are not a strictly gf household, but one of my children just discovered that wheat bread products were the cause of their persistent stomach aches. This mix had been a helpful and delicious addition to our pantry, to help recreate some traditional favorites - with no tummy upset! Wal-mart, please continue to stock this item!
We discovered that the flour contains foreign contaminants, including what appears to be mouse and rat droppings. We intend to file a formal complaint against the manufacturer and request a full investigation. Under federal regulations, companies that violate food safety standards can face fines, enforcement actions, and potential closure. It is unacceptable for Walmart to continue doing business with suppliers that fail to meet basic health and safety requirements.
DO NOT USE!!! I have purchased this baking mix several times and always had good results. However, the last box I purchased made me sick 3 different times. I kept using it each time thinking there must have been something else I ate to cause the symptoms, but it kept happening. As someone with celiac disease I take my GF diet very seriously. To get sick off of something that is supposed to be a gluten free product is not just frustrating, but dangerous. I hope no one else has the same experience I do, but I cannot in good faith trust to purchase this ever again.
King Arthur Gluten free mix is made on shared lines with wheat. I contacted the company twice to verify. If you ask, they will tell you it is produced on the same exact line as gluten. It is no wonder why my family was getting sick. If you are truly sensitive to gluten, check your sources. Another company who takes shortcuts at the cost of the consumer.
This was my 1st time purchasing any type of gluten-free product as I was just recently diagnosed with gluten intolerance. Unfortunately it had "expired 6 months earlier." I don't understand why the WMart shoppers who select our items don't even bother to check expiration dates. This happens on a frequent basis w/food items. Now I'm very hesitant to repurchase the same item as I'm sure there's still a shelf full of the King Arthur Gluten Free Baking Mix that has expired beyond it's "use or before date." I worked in retail for years %26 this would've been unacceptable at our grocery store. With that being said, I cannot give a true review of the product itself since it had expired.
