Hormel roast beef hash is so good for breakfast with biscuits or for supper . It is lean and has less fat than other hashs . The flavor is beefy and with the potatoes a comfort food . I like to brown it up in an iron skellet . It is sooooooooo good 😊
Taste and quality is great. Don't particularly like the caramel coloring added but at least no nitrites, which I do not buy nitrite containing products. Price is a bit high. Overall, it is very handy for a quick hot meal that tastes great. I dont eat pork so this roast beef version is great for me.
I'm find this a substitute for corned beef has as I try not to eat anything with nitrites as I am at high risk for colon cancer. This tastes good and is nitrite free, as far as I can tell.
This is great for any meal. My favorite is breakfast with a runny egg on top and a slice of sour dough toasted. Of course I also need a dab of ketchup on the side. We used to make our own when I was a kid, hand grinder with left over roast and potato, cooked in the old cast iron fry pan. Yummy
Hash was once a staple for my breakfast. The canned stuff is okay but fry it a while to get the grease out of it. Homemade much better but I'm lazy to make it
Hormel was always tasty. This can was dry. Potatoes were dry. It used to be juicy. Alittle greasy even. I added butter but it didn't help. I bought 2 cans. Maybe the 2nd one will be better.
Be warned I purchased 4 cans at 1:88 each and at billing I was charged 3:97 for each one was delivered only 3 cans but was refunded for it, what about the double overcharge!
As a child and young man, I was able to cook this product into round, crispy rolls (much the same as a small hamburger), cut nicely from the ingredients in the can after you had left it in the refrigerator overnight. I now find that this is absolutely impossible to keep in single pieces, as too much water has been added to the product and it falls completely in a pan into a scattered mess. It is no wonder that your new recipes call for never making it this way again. It is also far too expensive at $4.29 per can to ever buy again.
Since the Hormel banner has adorned Mary Kitchen Roast Beef Hash the only perceptible change has been the price, which has escalated at a rate not unlike an epi-pen. But you've changed something. And what ever it is, it's significant. Both the flavor and texture is totally dissimilar to the original jewel. Change it back and let me know. Until I hear that it's been corrected, I cannot, in good conscious expend any further discretionary grocery budget on this garbage.
I have used this hash for year and have really enjoyed eating it; however; now I find it is really sloppy with way too much water or grease and not much beef. What a disappointment! If this is an example of the Hormel Brand, then I definitely will not be buying anything with the Hormel label.
