When purchasing your own modem, keep in mind that you will need to call your carrier and give them the MAC address located on the bottom of the modem. I upgraded from a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to this DOCSIS 3.1 modem to take advantage of an upgrade from 300 Mbps to 600 Mbps. The very first speed test that I ran showed an upgrade from the 340 Mbps that I was getting to 687 Mbps immediately. Do I need that kind of speed… no. Do I want it… yes. I ordered it for delivery via the Walmart website and got it as quickly as I would have if ordered on Amazon. It was less expensive at Walmart by about $40 at the time of purchase.

To be honest, I returned this modem because it didn't solve the problem I was having with my internet connection dropping constantly. I have since discovered that the problem was my router, not my modem, which is why my review is positive. Though this one wasn't used by me, the one it was meant to replace was the exact same brand, which I love and have truly had no problems with, even though I thought I did at the time.

I updated the previous modem I had to this one. The connections are similar so it was simple to install. Since the amount of devices we have are growing it made sense to get a stronger modem to support them all. So far it's been reliable and fast. Note* this modem does not have built-in Wi-Fi

This Arris SURFboard SB8200 Cable Modem is so-so much better than the old Arris lower model number that lasted only 4 years! I'm not sure how long Modem's are supposed to last, but this new model, costing $170, HOPEFULLY will last LONGER than 4 years because of the price! This New Model is also much faster connecting than the old model.

The new Modem (SB8200) works excellent and is super-fast. I replaced my old Modem (SB6121) with Comcast - Xfinity. To do the swap out, replace, and install your new Modem plan for a 2-HOURS window for firmware update and cable provider to recognize your new Modems MAC address, model number, and device numbers. Turn off your Modem and Wi-Fi Router. Install your new Modem, attach the coaxial cable, and power on the new Modem with NO Ethernet cable at this time. The Modems LEDs will turn on and illuminate. The Modem will update the firmware that can take around 20 minutes before all the Modem lights are on and steady. Plugin the Ethernet cable to the computer and power on the computer. Open webpage for Xfinity or your service provider. The Xfinity will take 10 minutes to read your new Modem. If this locks up after the 20 minutes, then turn off and reboot your new Modem. Open the webpage for Xfinity again and retry Modem recognition with Xfinity will see the updated new model. You should see at Xfinity or your service provider your new Modem model number and MAC address. Connect the Ethernet cable between your new Modem and your Wi-Fi Router and power on; after about two minutes, your wireless network should be up and going once again. If not, reboot your Modem and Wi-Fi Router, wait for 2-5 minutes, and be online once again. If your service provider does not Auto-Recognition your Modem, you will need to call and give them your new MAC address, model number, and device numbers to use your new Modem. MM (10-8-2020)

I was finding it hard to find this product “Arris ********* Surfboard DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem” anywhere in other websites and stores then I came across it at Walmart and I love the quality. The price was around the range I was willing to pay, and I was extremely satisfied with the performance.

Most amazing part of this purchase was the delivery! Our router died and Walmart had this in stock and delivered it the same day! What great service!

It is an acceptable modern. If needed it for higher speed to play maybe should consider a different option. This one dies easy due to high temperature. For us it is the second one we bought. We are trying to find a better aerated spot for it. Other than that, we are satisfied with it.

Not sure if it works yet. The product box and inner plastic packaging had been opened. The Walmart envelope was sealed. I'm afraid my modem had been returned previously. Haven't hooked it up yet. I wasn't expecting an”open box” item when I paid full price.

It works well when it works. After a month we've been having connection issues. The Xfinity technician said that our connection was great but the modem was having issues. He said that Arris isn't the worst out there. But it also isn't the best and to go with Netgear. Something was likely damaged in the product shipping or something.
