I have bought other brands of farro in the past. It was always a hassle to cook. They took forever to get chewy. These? Cook in about 10-15 minutes. And they always come out perfectly nutty and chewy. If you've never had farro, this is the brand you want to try first. It's quite versatile. I top salads with it, put it in soup, kneed it into bread (cooked and cooled first), add it to rice, and sometimes just eat a small bowl of this as a healthy snack (with butter and salt.) Forget eating chips, Doritos, and crackers. This stuff is really satisfying. Make it ahead. Keep it cold in the fridge. It's so easy to heat up in the microwave.
Took 20 minutes longer to cook than the instructions said for some reason. Anyhoo...After cooking, cooling, and fluffing the bettergoods Italian Farro, I added red onion, feta, parsley, garlic, capers, and roasted grape tomatoes a ton of cracked pepper. I was quite pleased with the way it turned out. The farro helps you feel full longer if all you're eating is salad. Would def buy again.
Farro has got to be one of my favorite ancient grains. I love it in green salads. I love it mixed with beans. Most of all, I love it mixed in soup. It is like barley in that it holds its shape and doesn't just soak up all the liquid. If you have not yet tried this particular grain, trust me and give it a try. You won't be sorry. To make a grain salad that will help anyone kick the white rice and potatoes habit, mix cooked grains ( of any combo) with fresh lemon juice, a dash of olive oil, red wine vinegar, chopped up sun-dried tomatoes, chopped up green olives with a little of the olive juice, and lots of flat leaf parsley. Yum! I have always found that pharaoh is a really great accompaniment to chickpeas in any recipe I've made with them together in. If you are about to have soup and put rice in it, give it a shot and try pharaoh instead. You will love it!
great quality but for those that haven't cooked with ferro, you're supposed to rinse it well ( like quinoa) before boiling.
Will purchase again. Love the mild, earthy flavor and the texture is chewy.
I already bought another bag to use in my next farro salad😋
