I use this cake mix for all my cakes. You can add other flavors like lemon or orange extract, but no matter what you do, it always comes out moist and flavorful. The price here is good so it's easy to keep one on hand. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
All cake mixes has to be altered when they could no longer use hydrogenated oils. Betty Crocker came out on top. I do not follow the directions but make doctored cakes .Where other mixes fail, I get the rich moist results, high rising results from Betty Crocker mixes and the lumpy others do not come close. I stopped making rum cakes for several years because my other brand was not working out. I am so glad I switched. I am back to making a few cakes a week for my teen boys!
I have used Betty Crocker cake mixes for years because it has always given the best results, but that is no longer the case. I am so disappointed that I can no longer trust this brand. Although I make most cakes from scratch, there are some recipes I start with a cake mix. My baking business depends on consistent results.
So so sad I'd rather pay more and have the exact size I need then you guys sneak and reduce the size sadly, my grandma‘s recipe that I always make now I have to buy two boxes and try to make sure that I have the 14.25 to 15 ounces I need to make the cake which really makes me mad I hate to move over to Duncan Hines, but I would like you to at least continue to have the same size boxes of product …charge two dollars or whatever you need to charge, but I hate wasting a half a box of cake mix so that can make the right amount of cake mix… Why are you not thinking about your consumer? Sadly, you guys are out of touch with your consumer because we sit around and talk about this all the time and how disappointed we are with you Betty Crocker our favorite but now not.
Do you realize there are recipes using your boxes that were designed for the 15 ounce box. So - I made my husband's birthday cake with your crap because it specifically stated "Betty Crocker" and - you have shrunk your cake mixes too. I am so tired of this. It's unfair. MANY of us remember and the recipes sure do.
I have used this mix for years and always loved it! The last two I have made have a horrible smell and after taste... literally, like stink bugs!!! I'd love to know if anyone else is experiencing this? Both boxes were purchased at the same time, though I can't remember where, but used a month apart. I have always received rave reviews before when I've made these cakes and now I watch as my family literally spits it out in the trash.
I made a BC Super Moist Butter Recipe cake mix. Have used BC mixes for years, but the directions on the box called for 1 cup of water, oil and eggs. It poured into the cake pan like soup; had the texture of cornbread and was not a bit good. I wonder if the 1 cup of water is a misprint because I've never had this type of result from BC mixes and I've used them for years.
For years I have bought the "pudding in the mix" yellow cake mix and they have been always delicious. Yesterday I bought a yellow cake mix that does not say "pudding in the mix" and it is dry and crumbly. Not at all what I have come to expect from Betty Crocker. Please bring back the good stuff!!!!!
My daughter bought me a strawberry cake mix for my birthday so we could back it together - the cake mix just does not make sense, it has less cake mix 15.25 oz vs. 18.25 oz but the same amount of eggs, water, oil that the 18.25 oz. mix takes. That makes the taste very WEAK and the top of the cake falls off when you try to spread the icing. this is very disappointing, customers would much rather pay a higher price for the more cake mix and get a quality product. Did anyone at Betty Crocker even try this before they made the change???? It is HORRIBLE and I am not the only customer that has realized this huge mistake that Betty Crocker thought was a good idea. We are the consumers and we should be able to buy a quality product.
Bought a Betty Crocker cake mix , always remember them being great. Daughter was super excited to make a cake. The chocolate cake mix had a weird after taste, was really crumbly and not dense like I remember. Will not be buying again. very disappointed.
