Blue Runner Foods Creole Seafood Gumbo Base, 25 oz Can

I'm from New Orleans and we know our Gumbo. But gumbo from scratch is a LONG process and who has all day to make it? Not most of us. My granny used to but most of us don't or don't want to. I have tried most of the "gumbo bases" out there and this one is by far the best in my opinion and the opinion of my friends. Get the "seafood base". Follow directions and add the seafood of your choice. We prefer shrimp and crab meat. We use frozen medium size Gulf shrimp and a can of lump crab meat. I personally don't like chicken in my gumbo. However, I do add a bit of smoked sausage. I think it adds a lot of flavor. If using one can of this base, I usually add about 1/4 lb. of sausage. 1 lb. shrimp and 1 -6 oz. can of crab meat. I also add about 1/2 cup of frozen okra and about 1/2 cup water. Serve the gumbo over rice if desired, but not much unless you like a lot of rice. I don't. Double everything if you want to feed 6 people. Add a salad and enjoy!

This is much better than the dry ingredient gumbo base. It's rich and well seasoned. I sautéed my own trinity with sausage, added shredded rotisserie chicken, and lastly shrimp. Highly recommended for semi-homemade.

great product better Rue than mine and cheaper than making ot myself. Would recommend this product to all that enjoy French Quarter style dishes.

It doesn't taste like homemade but it saves time and it's worth buying. Glad I tried it. Will buy again.

it wàs too much for me in the gumbo department you got to realize I was raised in New Orleans and Slidell Louisiana it was just too busy with ingredients

I wad hoping that it would come close to the gumbo had when I was in Louisiana. It's not even close.
