So far, so good! I've only had it for a week, but I've used it for all I've saved up for months. I like that I can choose a continuous rotation or one that shuts down when I'm being slow. It needs to stop every once in a while when it gets overheated, but that's just a safety thing.
If you follow the directions (stick to 6 flat sheets max per run) and oil the blades as advised, this thing will work for a long time. The credit card shredder works well and will shred them with the chip. It's affordable and hefty. Worth it. Needed if you need to throw out papers with sensitive information. I can't speak for the company, but this is definitely good for home or home office use, for large batch use, I'd recommend an industrial strength unit. This device does have an overheat protection so you don't burn out the motor.
Nice little machine. I purchased it to shred all that stuff like doctor printouts and credit card stuff that a person might not want to go in regular trash, and several boxes of invoices from an old business that have aged out of that 'keep for IRS possible audits' timeframe from an old business. If I wanted something super fast that could shred a ton of paper at a time, this is not the machine. But I shredded everything 5 pages or so at once during the end of the day when my brain wasn't good for anything anymore except staring at TV. So I did that and shredded like some people knit or scroll their phones. It took a few days because I didn't dedicate more than a half hour here or there, but I ended up with something like twenty 13 gallon sized bags of shred. I only overheated the machine 3 times, all my fault for getting impatient and sticking 10 pages in at a time. It does slow down then and if it slows down and works hard long enough it will overheat. Especially if the pages are old, filled with humidity (like old invoices kept in a basement for many years) and crinkle while being sucked down into the shredder. So by being patient and only doing 5 at a time, it went much faster. It handled plastic, photo paper, an occasional staple or paper clip, that weird waxed paper stuff, and it is alive and well after all that work, ready for the next pill bottle label that I don't want the trash man man to read. Empty the basket when full and before the shredder starts pushing the shred inside down to make room for what is being shredded. Shut the machine off. Sometimes run it in reverse to clear the shredder. You could hurt yourself with it, I suppose, if you were stupid enough to leave it plugged in an ON and try to pull stuck papers out of it from the bottom, but if you are that stupid I'm not sure what safety feature could save you. So I wouldn't let a kid run it without supervision. When I did clog it those three times it overheated, the clogs were easy to clear after it started again. Foreward and backward a couple of times and once I had to tug on the sheets to pull them back out. Again, really nice little machine. Good price. Thumbs up.
I absolutely love this paper shredder! It’s incredibly easy to use with very simple, straightforward steps—just plug it in, insert your paper, and it gets the job done quickly. The cross-cut feature gives me peace of mind for shredding sensitive documents, and the 3.4-gallon wastebasket is a great size—not too bulky, but holds enough to avoid constant emptying. It’s compact, works smoothly, and fits perfectly in my home office. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a dependable shredder at a great price!
Overall a great value! Pros: EasyTo Use (and fairly forgiving) - As I was feeding sheets of paper into the machine, I was moving fast and a couple of times, I goofed up and got the paper in wrong, to where it crumpled. I thought for sure it'd wind up jamming, but nope! It gnawed through those sheets like they were... um... paper? Ha! I filled the basket 3 times in one sitting and it never once jammed! Strong Motor - It touts up to 6 pages at a time, and it's not lying! I accidentally added 8 sheets at one point and it did struggle a bit, but it still managed to pull through. Whew! Detailed instruction manual - Very straight-forward and easy to understand SHARP cutting device - This adds to its ability to gnaw through paper like it's nothing (but BE CAREFUL! You do NOT want to get hair, clothing, or goodness forbid small fingers into this machine. KEEP wee ones and pets away from this machine! Keep switch in Off position when not in use, and if you have kids/pets, keep it unplugged and out of reach when not attended.) Fast - It was difficult to keep up with this shredder, even while I was at full-speed with a stack of prepared (ensured no staples, etc) paper at the ready, except when I overfed it that once (OOPS!), it really flew through it! 3-Position Switch - Off and On, of course, where On has the machine run continuously, but it's also got Auto, which will let it rest after a few seconds of not being fed paper and will kick in again once paper's slid into the slot. Very nifty feature! Well-Priced - I put off buying a shredder for far too long, due to the price of most cross-cut shredders. When I saw this one going for $29.99, I jumped on it, and I don't regret it one bit! Bonus Eco-Friendly (if ya' do it right): Each spring I dig up a section of my garden to fill with veggie scraps from the kitchen and other appropriate things for composting. While preparing my paper for shredding, I ensured I separated out anything glossy or full print (LOTS of ink), and shredded the rest (mostly bills and such). Once done, I tossed all of the shredded bills, etc into the compost spot, then wetted it down and added kitchen scraps and such (to keep the paper from blowing away). Worms LOVE this kind of thing, so, if done properly, this shredder adds eco-friendliness to one's world! Cons: Small Basket - The basket is fairly small (about the size of the average bathroom trash can) and fills up quickly. It IS somewhat forgiving about the fill line, but one needs to keep a close eye on it, especially at first while getting used to how fast it fills up. If you've got a lot of shredding to do, you'll want to keep another container handy to empty the basket into now and then, so it's not a big deal to empty it out. Conflicting Instructions - One part of the manual says a special kind of oil needs to be used on it once in a while. Another part says cooking oil can be used. Thus I'm left unsure.
The Bonsai paper shredder is great. It's powerful even though it's smaller than the last one I had. This is much better. I love the window so you can see when you're getting close to the top. It's fast on paper and bank cards. The crosscut it does makes sure my scraps can't be put back together. Excellent security feature.
Shreds paper (up to 8 sheets), credit cards, staples, and paper clips. Love the handle on the heavy top piece. I bought this for my mother, and this makes it much easier to take the top off to empty. The only downside is it is a more compact model, so smaller footprint and capacity. If you're not shredding a lot of paper, this is more than sufficient for junk mail, etc.
Loved that it was small and compact BUT it only allows you to shred for 3 minutes. This short shred time before you have to turn it off for a few hours will make you question why a company would even make a shredder that you can only use in three minute increments. It's cheap for a reason. Spend at least $120 and get a better paper shredder by Bonsaii. Look for one that goes at least 45 minutes to an hour for shredding.
It’s junk. Overheats super quickly and gets jammed easily. I didn’t use it for several hours, turned it on, and it started smoking. Fire hazard! Buy a name brand shredder…this lasted two days. 😩
1) Its difficult to feed paper into the slot. 2) It's slow. it was too much trouble to pack it up and return it. dont buy an item like this sight unseen. go to a store and look at the design and talk to sales person.
