I needed a lock for my gun cabinet to deter young visitors to my house from any mischief. These visitors include teenagers who can get quite creative at getting into things. I chose this Brink's lock because like the previous ones I purchased everything is always secured which gives me peace of mind. You can't go wrong!
We needed locks for our box units we were using before moving to store our household items in. Came across these. They are a multi-pack, good price, good value, great brand, and long shank too. Great find and would definitely purchase again.
Loved these locks, liked the longer body as its easier to manage with arthritic hands. Meets my needs 100%.
sturdy compact easy to open easy to use
I felt I could trust the Brinks name - I am locking my Dog Pen because my Boston Terrier was stolen twice. Other than having to use WD-40 on the locks, I've had no problems whatsoever. I plan to purchase again as needed.
I am extremely pleased with this lock that I used to replace a lock om one of self-storage units. I was skeptical at first but after my grown grandsons and son-in laws battered it to no end it is still is is great shape and is still in perfect working condition and I am confident that it is going to keep my things safe. The price is good and its easy to install. I am 68 and have no problem removing it when I need to. I will more than likely replace my other locks with Brinks locks of this size.
Bought them for my toy hauler. It has 2 hasps on the back and with both keyed the same it makes it easier for me to have one on my key ring and one in the truck. The tumblers are quiet and it turns like silk. I will likely dip the keys to color code them. For those who care it does have a California warning about lead exposure and they are stamped "made in China".
These locks are high-quality steel construction. I have used these to secure my shed, boat, and swinging gate over the years. They will stand up to most anything and not break. The only thing I wish was stronger is the key, which can bend and become disfigured over time if twisted to strongly. But that it the case with any other lock I have ever used. For the price these are more than a fair deal.
As always, I'm reviewing this lock based on value for cost. A $7 lock and a $25 lock that perform exactly the same are not going to get the same ratings from me. That said, this is a good low-cost, light/medium-duty lock. Locks tight with no slop, and releases well when the key is turned. On any new tool, I always blast any moving metal parts with silicone spray at the first opportunity, and I did so with this lock. I'll use it for, and I believe it is designed to, keep your kids - and maybe some nosy neighborhood kids - out of things and places that you'd rather they not access easily, like gates, sheds, tool cabinets and maybe the beer fridge. Like most padlocks, it's just a deterrent to keep would-be thieves moving on to an easier target, not to secure your guns, gold and cash. I imagine that a determined thief with a pair of bolt cutters or a heavy duty crowbar could defeat this thing pretty quickly, as they could pretty much any shackle lock that costs less than fifty bucks. Most of the time, they break the hinges or the clasp off the things anyway, and leave the lock intact, so using an expensive padlock on a gate or door is kinda silly. If you're looking at a similar sized lock from Master in the same price range, this one is just as good. If you're looking at a similar-sized lock from some off-brand, this is probably much better.
It only comes with two keys and should have 4 that would be a better deal!
