I am not a guru at electronic equipment setup -- but gave it a go. Instructions were very simple and clear to follow. The product has a small footprint, clean lines, prints very quietly and crisp quality. I've only had it one day (LOL) but so far, feel safe to assume I'm going to love my new printer!
You pay for what you get, a little pricier than the HP I bought and returned. This printer is just perfect, its quiet, great quality, a little bit of a process to set up, just follow the directions and give yourself about 20 minutes and an extra pair of hands to get it done, it is a little cumbersome, I'm about 6 ft, 200 pounds and it was a little awkward for me to unbox and move around but doable, if you are a petite person or just not that strong take care to have some help around during set up. After unboxing and set up it went right to work, again quiet, and fast, and most important it no long warm up times, about 5 seconds from powering on to printing. great printer, even has a fax machine. oh and take a picture of the password on the back before placing it in a corner, you'll need it a couple times.
They have changed the software. They no longer have the control center. So it is a bit harder to scan to email. This is my 3rd on like this. I love them all. And they last a long time. The first one i bought was 20 some odd years ago.
Great printer. Easy setup.
Very easy to operate and use.
This is the third Brother Laser printer I have purchased. I have a mono all in one and a color printer. Both are excellent. I got this for a friend who had been using inkjet printers. She was complaining about the cost if ink that dries out when not in use. The laser printers do not have this issue. I recommend the Brother laser printers to anyone who needs a printer
I bought this printer because the reviews were pretty good. However, when I got it, I noticed that the toner cartridges were not easy to install. They also force you to buy the toner for brother which is way more expensive than any other toner. The toner has now ruined my drum and I've only used the printer for less than 30 days. Very frustrating.
The actual printer here is nice enough. The fact that you have to "subscribe" to the Brother spam emails simply to register the product is beyond ridiculous. There is simply no way "simply" register the product otherwise. Then they prompt you like three times and make you feel guilty for not subscribing to their newsletter ... where I'm sure they'll pound your email with "deals" to buy all the toner and paper supplies at inflated prices. Then, after installation, it says there's a firmware update. Oh, and if you want to install updates, you have to be logged in with a username and password and create yet another password (with a gazillion letter/number/character combination) just to install it. It's a freaking printer, why all the top secret triple layer security to simply install and update the firmware. Big companies are out of control with how they want to constantly know every little thing about the consumer. If this wasn't such a pain to box back up and ship it back (I had it delivered by buying online) I would return this in a minute and never buy Brother again. Ridiculous.
Difficult WiFi setup, wrks only with cable Too simple for the price no scanner
Here are the issues: Goes into sleep so frequently and never come back online. Only way I have to get it working is to reboot the printer and also sometimes I have to uninstall from windows PC and reinstall. Loosing network connectivity Slow printing process - If you send one job, 2nd job is either lagging or sometimes it times out and dont get printed.
