I had a hole in an air mattress that looked like it had been made by a sharp pencil. Several patching methods had been unsuccessful. After a little online research I discovered Coghlan's AirStop and thought I'd try one last time to repair the mattress before throwing it away. I cleaned the damaged area thoroughly with mineral spirits to remove goo from earlier repair attempts, and then I wiped it with isopropanol. (Don't use "rubbing alcohol" because it likely has oils in it.) For the first application I applied only one modest drop on the hole. At 5-minute intervals I applied another drop, gradually spreading the application area to only about 1/4-inch diameter. I waited overnight before inflating the air mattress. The repair was completely effective. This product is perfect for sealing leaks in vinyl inflatable items.
I had two small rips in my air mattress. One was on the vinyl side and one on the fleece side. I was skeptical but after reading other reviews I decided it was worth a try at less than $10 a tube. I applied four layers of Air Stop. So far so good. I had an overnight guest for two nights and no issues. I am so glad I did some research and found this product. It is definitely worth the money to try this rather than getting a new air mattress.
I found this stuff in Walmart a couple years ago and bought some to try. I used two bottles to date. The bottles look small but I will say they are the only product that I've used to fix mattress leaks that works! I've just received my order of 2 more tubes. Yes, it comes in a tube now. Seems to be the same product inside though. For the record I use this stuff often. I prefer sleeping on air mattresses .
The product received was not packaged in a bottle as shown in the display. However, functionally it was perfect. It was used to patch two pin holes in a raised bed air mattress. By applying the multiple layers of the product over the holes and allowing to dry for the recommended time, a pricey air mattress was resurrected from the dead. Standard patches could not be used because of where the holes were, but this really did the trick.
This product was available in my local Walmart store last year but no longer is. It should be. There is no other product available that can actually repair vinyl and rubber boats and floats by actually creating a fill of vinyl like material as if there were never a rip or tear. Keep tightly sealed though because it is FAST drying. I repaired an inflatable kayak that was 8 years old with multiple splits on the seams. It's just as good as new now.
This works great on inflatable rafts and pools. Have used it for years. Easy to apply and durable. Can use it with a patch if the hole is bigger.
I havent tried it yet
It does work when used the right way. Been sleeping on airbeds for 15 years plus since back surgery. You r gonna get leaks. The vinyl weakens at the seams & a leak happens. I keep bedding on the bed because I was told years ago that our body oils from our skin is will weaken the vinyl. Use more than a sheet between body & bed. This AirStop works the best when used right. Use small amounts on deflated, clean vinyl, let dry completely between each use. I use a alcohol wipe to gently clean the area. It may take 4/5 light passes on the torn area & I always cover twice the area as the leak.
It works great!!!
My inflatable pool had a small hole in it at the seams so I couldn't use a patch on this. This glue was perfect! I put 3 applications on it and it's holding up very well. My only complaint is once you start squeezing the glue out, it won't stop! The cap does pretty well holding it in, but once you open the cap again, it'll start oozing out right away. Overall, loved this product! Saved me from having to buy a new pool!
