This makes amazing smores. There is a slight learning curve but they are delicious and worth the effort to learn the tricks to get the best final product. We will use this as long as it lasts and intend to buy more for our family time cooking on the campfire deserts. Did I mention that we LOVE IT! I recommend to anyone who likes s'mores but wishes they were more melty.
My purchase was in stock, reasonably priced, and arrived quickly. I have not used it yet, so I can't speak to it's quality.
This is a great product to have your smores done all together and without the disaster of things moving around or the hazard of getting burn. Set everything in the right position and order of products, close it and be ready to warm them. This utensil is really good and keep the smores tight. I was worried about heat reaching the handler portion, but turns out great and doesn't not reach where your hand grabs. Great for camping, but also to use at home.
So I received this s'more maker. My family and I are very active campers and this way is so much cleaner and less messy. Don't get me wrong I love the old fashion way of making s'mores but with this, you just build the s'more (up to 3 side by side normal size) and you fold the s'more maker together and hold over the fire until the marshmallow melts. Yes it takes longer but so much easier with young kids.
We gave these as part of an end of the year teachers gift. We ended up having to buy more because my kids insisted on testing out the first set! Works well with less mess.
This s'mores maker has space to make 3 s'mores at a time. The handle is a suitable length, but shorter than I would prefer. However, with a different the fire source that may be less of a concern. I used an outdoor fireplace, which had a narrow opening. Loading the maker the first couple times was a bit cumbersome. I recommed good preparation surface or helping hand. Be prepared for the whole s'more to be hot as the graham cracker also gets heated as opposed to adding a toasted marshmallow to a chotplate and a cool cracker.
I like the idea of this product but the graham crackers get too done and the marshmallows don't get done enough. Also, the chocolate melts to fast and it does go everywhere. I think it would be better to have something on the outside for the marshmallows to cook first and then figure the rest out.
Depends on what you are using this for. Using this for s'mores is not feasible. It will burn the graham cracker before it melts the marshmallow. If you want put one cracker one and then the chocolate it will melt the chocolate nicely. But you have to do the mallow separately. And then put it on. I haven't tried making grilled cheese or anything else in it. So I guess we'll see….
The Coghlan's Camper's S'mores Grill is a cute ideal but I personally don't think it works as well as doing it the old-fashioned way. The ideal is to fully assemble the smore, then cook it. But it cooks the graham cracker because it's the most exposed to the flame. Then melts the chocolate and finally gets the marshmallow soft. You don't get that caramelization of the marshmallow when you brown it separately over the flame. Plus the entire "grill" is too heavy for young children to hold up for extended periods of time.
Received a unit with peeling, discolored handles and sticky residues also on the unit...thankfully I was refunded. Hope the quality has not changed on this product as I had purchased this item years ago and it was perfect (I should have purchase a second unit then.).
