Two Watts of solar ain't much power. You gotta know what to do with it. I am using this little panel to power a (2W) five inch muffin fan in my shed. Works just like I thought it would. Sun's out the fan runs. No sun the fan shuts off. Doesn't cool the shed much. But it does move the air around. Total cost was about $20. No outside wiring. And it runs for free. Walmart sold this solar panel for $12. Couldn't resist.
I have been using this for almost 6 months and it has maintained my car's battery at full strength during that time. At $14.44, I figure it was less expensive than buying a new $$$ 12-volt automobile battery every year. Even at the new $22.00 price tag, still a good investment and reliable.
Walmart is awesome as always!
A bit higher price than it should have been.
If your 12 volt battery has a battery drain over a few days; this could be a remedy for you. There is a tiny blinking blue light when the solar panel is producing a charge. It works on cloudy days as well as sunny days and has the option of alligator clamps to hook it to the battery or it can be plugged into the cigarette lighter.
Works fine but it's a no frills device. You need to provide your own monitoring instruments to know if it's doing the job. Unfortunately since I just purchased it I haven't have a chance to test long time sitting. Also most accessory 12 Vdc outlets goes thru the starting key, must make sure that lighter outlet is connected directly to battery.
I have several of these Solar maintainers. They work great for keeping the batteries in my boat and atv ready to go when I don't use them for awhile. I am going to install another one on my travel trailer to maintain the battery from the small drains that they all have while setting. I also noticed that the Coleman brand is a 2 Watt, most others are not that high.
I ordered two of these maintainers and both had cracks in the glass of the panel. One was full of tiny glass shards. The plastic seems insufficient to protect them in the packing/shipping process. I almost wonder if they were broken before being shipped, as they seemed fairly secure in the box and the damage wasn't visible until I cut open the plastic packaging. If not for this issue, the panels seem well built and have convenient connectors, so this was extra disappointing.
Unfortunately i'm not able to write the item because we just opened the package to install the item on my truck, but were disappointed to find 5 cracks in the glass (as shown in the attached picture). We received the item without proper packaging or securing, which likely caused the damage. This item was sent as if it was just bought in the store without even putting it in bubble wrap. Come on, have some common sense. When you send these kind of items they just get tossed in the mail, This is technically a fragile item with glass in it. How do you expect it to survive with USPS just throwing and tossing these type of shipments around. Quite disappointing to open a package after waiting for it for a long time and seeing it like this.
no indicators of it working and it does not keep the battery charged .... slowly trickles down
