As always, I write my reviews based on value for cost. for example, if a $10 camera takes decent pictures, it may get a five-star review. If a $300 camera takes decent pictures, it may get a 2-star review. This unit is absolutely amazing for $99. Simple setup, Wi-Fi connection, app from Google Play Store (or whatever Apple people use). as with most tech devices today, there aren't very many instructions included in the box. But there are a lot of videos available. I did have some questions and called tech support, and they were surprisingly prompt and quite available. the two photos attached to this review are with this camera in the exact same spot it turns 360° to take cover inside the house even though I have it on a windowsill facing the street. It picked up and alerted me to a truck passing by on the street which is 74 ft from the camera through three panes of glass. That may be something I need to make adjustments for lol. one of these at the front of your house and one at the back and you're completely covered no wiring needed ; just your Wi-Fi connection. I really like that it immediately alerts you (if you do choose) to motion detected like someone delivering a package or coming to the door. Don't even have to get off the couch now to ignore salesman. I will definitely be buying another one of these units to put at the back of my house to cover the back yard.

When I first received the D-Link 1080p HD 360 View Indoor WIFI Camera Person Detection Works with Google (DCS8526LH-WM) I read the information on the exterior of the box and the enclosed Quick Installation Guide. My first reaction was, “What have I gotten into?” My reaction was wrong. After finding the mydlink app and downloading the app, things got easy. Simply read and follow the instructions provided by the app. Creating the account, log in and add the device was very straight forward. Overall, it took about 10 minutes to go through the setup. The setup included inserting a microSD card and doing the needed formatting. I first got the camera working using the local microSD storage. Later I setup the free cloud storage account. One thing that gave me a positive feeling about D-Link regarding this product was the instructions went out of their way to make sure that I understood that help if needed it was there. D-Link is pro-active in encouraging contact with the slightest difficulty. This WIFI Camera the app and the Quick Installation Guide is so good that no help was needed. The quality of the imagery and sound provided by this WIFI Camera is outstanding. The quality of the night vision imagery is alright, but it is not the quality of the daylight imagery. A Camera mounting plate along with two screws is include with the Camera. I did not want to drill holes in the wall as a part of the installation. I chose to use heavy duty double sided mounting tape. It works fine and if the camera is relocated there are no holes in the wall to repair. The only negative encountered is that the camera must be located near a power socket to plug in the camera power adapter. This feature limits the location of the WIFI Camera. I found a location with a power outlet socket that provided acceptable camera coverage, but if the WIFI Camera used a Lithium Ion battery as a power source locating the camera would have been easier and provide better camera coverage.

Eazy to Set up. Great Picture Quality. Sound Quality is also really good. Functions are easy to control with the phone Application. Comes with mounting plate to attach to ceiling.

What a wonderful and practical piece of technology. This compact HD camera is high tech for sure. Small and easy to set up just about anywhere indoors. On a bookshelf, table dresser or mounted to the ceiling with the included hardware. This camera can be operated with an ethernet cable or WiFi. Also included is the electrical adapter which plugs into any 120 volt outlet found in the home. So many great features on this camera. With HD resolution (1080) the images are clear and detailed. Even using the camera at night, the images are at 1080. Any movement or sounds are detected. The camera will follow movement of subject by being able to turn 360°. As well, the pan and tilt capability allows the camera to track movement from a lower to higher or vice Versace position. On the font of the camera is a microphone along with a built in speaker on the back of the unit. The operator can hear conversation in a room and can also speak through the microphone if desired. With a micro SD slot on the unit, the operator can purchase a micro SD card and record onto it as well. This camera can be used with I phones, I pads as well as Android smartphones or tablets. NO monthly service charges or fees and app support if need, make this camera a great choice for home security.

This review is for D-Link 1080p HD 360 view indoor wifi cam with person detection. It didn't take very long to set up and after 10-15 minutes of going through the app, I had programmed one touch command settings for different situations. You can set triggers and the responses to those triggers and then whenever you want to execute that command it only takes one push of a button. So you could set it to start recording when it senses motion, or more specifically a person, or sound. If this is in a high traffic area, you could turn that off with one button while your home. Then reactivate the rule when you leave. It also has a person tracking setting that has the camera automatically follow a person when in view and then return to its set home position after a minute of inactivity. It has a full 360° field of view and has night vision. It comes with free cloud recording but also supports a 256gb sd card for local recording(sd card not included). It also has a speaker and microphone built in for 2 way communication. The app is very user friendly and can support multiple cameras and makes switching view and control of each camera within your network very easy. The only small issue I found was the inability to set it to record and track a person simultaneously when sensing motion. So you can have it set to record all the time and have the motion tracker on, but you can't set it to start recording when it senses motion and then follow that motion. With free cloud recording I guess you simply keep the recording on all the time. Overall, I am very satisfied with this home monitoring system.

THIS LITTLE CAMERA HAD ME CONFUSED AND DOUBTING IT DID WHAT IT SAYS, BUT AFTER READING UP ON IT, I AM RUNNING IT OFF MY WIFI I USE IT ON PORCH AT NIGHT TO KEEP EYEY ON CARS AND FRONT DOOR, DURING THE DAY ITS INSIDE I CAN WATCH MY 2 MINI SCHNAUZERS WHEN I AM AWAY, I LOVE IT!!

To start off let me just say that I was born in 1950 and products like this surveillance camera system were not even thought of and were not even on the level of science fiction yet. With that being said since that time I've adapted to new inventions such as computers, home alarm systems, etc. and I think that I've done fairly well, but not nearly as good as someone who has grown up with new technology. If I can connect it and set it up without any problems it will be like a walk in the park for younger people who have grown up with this type of technology. I can honestly say that I am fully impressed with the new D-Link DCS-8526LH surveillance system and the app that controls it. Connecting it and setting it up was simple, even for me, and the app was very well done and works great. My home Wi-Fi is not working right now so I connected it directly to my router with an HDMI cable and it works great. It's nice that there is more than one way to connect it but when I get my Wi-Fi working again I am planning on connecting it that way so that I can move it to my living room instead of next to my router and computer. The camera itself is very well built and I can't foresee that there will ever be any problems with it. Again, I am thoroughly impressed with this camera and the app that runs it.

I was impressed on how simple this is to set up, I am not extremely tech savvy, luckily the instructions are easy to follow and set up and connection to the internet along with the phone app is a breeze. The picture is very clear and the phone app is very user friendly offering several options to fill your monitoring needs. Everything feels very high quality.

I'm 77 years old but was fortunate to have worked at a clerical job. So, just prior to retiring, I was trained to use computers. I am comfortable with electronics but far from the “expert” class. I was somewhat intimidated by this D-Link camera but the concept of a remote camera was alluring –-> “nothing ventured, nothing gained.” However, it turned out to be fairly easy to set this device up and I didn't have to use the panic helpline #. I went into my Apple smart phone's app store and downloaded the “mydlink” app. After that it was relatively simple to get this gizmo working in about 10/15 minutes. It delivers first class images to my smart phone. It has passable night vision. A microphone feature which gives good sound and is fun to broadcast through. It will send an alert beep to your phone (or computer) to advise you that someone is in the field of view. The only negative, for my purposes, is that the camera must be located near a power socket to plug in the camera power adapter. This feature limits the location of the WIFI Camera to the length of the power cord (10ft.). So to monitor our outside parking area and adjoining access road I had to get a little creative. You make the camera swivel to show a 360 degree view and tilt the view up and down. Turns out that the device is fun to play with and very useful for security purposes. Now I'll be able to tell who has run over my mailbox! I like this device – recommend it and most likely will buy a couple more to cover other areas that I'd like to monitor.

I give this product a two, because it is a nice little camera that will probably do what it is supposed to do for somebody... it just didn't for me. First, I wanted an outdoor camera (see photo where I wanted to mount it). Nowhere on the box or in the "Quick Installation Guide" does it say that it is an indoor camera (which it is)... although it does say so on the description/title given when I went to start this review. Had I been able to use it outside it would have been perfect as it lists all the features I wanted (HD, 360° view, person detection, live views on phone or computer, video recording, two way audio, see up to 16 feet in the dark, etc.). Second, any locations where I wanted to mount the camera did not have a power outlet within reach of its 10 foot power cord. My wife doesn't want any extension cords laying around the house (or porch, should I decide to mount it outdoors anyway). I would have liked a longer power cord. Again, it'll work fine for someone who has a power outlet right near where they wish to mount it. Then I tried to set it up and capture images with it. I have an older Android based cell phone that I really didn't expect to be able to work with the D-Link 1080p 360, and it didn't. I couldn't even download the app. So then I tried my wife's cell, which is new and fancier. I was able to download the app, but it still didn't work. I was about 30 feet from our router (in our living room), which was evidently too far away, so I moved to the kitchen (10 feet away). This allowed the app and camera to communicate, and the camera started up (flashed lights, spun around, etc.). But, I still couldn't get the app to DO anything. Tried and tried. Nothing. So much for the advertised "10 minutes to set up!" Finally, I called the help line / technical support. I got a cheery voice asking me to hold (I think it was a recording) and then after about two minutes of waiting, the same cheery voice came back on and said "All lines are busy now. Please try again later. Good bye!" Really. No kidding. They hung up on me! So I gave up. It can't be used outside. It won't work with my phone. I couldn't get it set up, even on my wife's new phone. It took me several hours to do what I did, and I hadn't even gotten to how to mount it and get power to it from there! And, the straw that broke the camel's back, they weren't there to help. I'm sure it works, but not for me...
