The Farberware Round 1.9L Deep Fryer is a good size, convenient, and works well. We made home made french fries that were a huge hit with my boys. Everyone loved them! The manual is very well written. It was my first time using a deep fryer, and I found the directions easy to follow.
This Farberware Round 1.9L Deep Fryer is compact, just right for my husband and myself. It has a 1. 9 litre capacity which holds about 64 ounces of oil. It comes with a very detailed instruction booklet which is for your personal safety, to become familiarized with the operation of the deep fryer and how to properly put the fry basket together. It has a blue power button that lets you know it's operational and a green ready button for the go ahead to fry. The temperature range is 265-375 degrees, it has a removable lid and the fryer basket is dishwasher safe. It's really cute and exceeded my expectations.
FARBERWARE's Deep Fat Fryer came packaged in the best protective and recycle design I have ever seen in a product. The unit, when removed from the packaging is very nice as well. It could be kept 'on display' on a large kitchen's counter top. The instructions for this fryer are quite explicit and imperative to read before using for safe handling of the hot oil, and storing and keeping the oil you use fresh. Each component; the interior, the top rim and the basket & its handle all are designed to form-fit together to keep oil safely contained, and food and the operator safe. Note the slots I painted red on the rim of the pot. It is matched to the lid's slots to form-fit the basket and its handle so the hot oil is safely contained during cooking and handling the food in the basket. Even the AC cord is safety secured with a "breakaway" magnet for quick disconnect. Be sure to have enough of a high temperature oil [I like coconut oil] on hand, as it takes about a half gallon of oil to operate. The instructions are very adamant that you not use less than the minimum, nor more than the maximum stamped on the inside of the pot. My Tip: Fry your food first, then fry some potatoes last. The potato pieces basically filter food residue and help purify the oil for storage... Besides my hubby loves fries !
Yesterday I used this to deep fry some tater tots. I have a second kitchen outside where I used it. It heated up quickly and fried the tater tots nicely. The one problem I encountered was the magnetic plug. It disconnected, and I didn't realize it. It took me 15 more minutes to get the oil up to temperature. I had it set on a smooth electric stovetop. I really liked the results and will remember to keep an eye on the lights to make sure it is working.
It gets the work done, but it's smaller than I expected, and according to the instruction, to prevent any over spilling, you need to only fill the basket halfway. and it's a really small basket. so if you are planning to use this for a family, then it's probably better to get something bigger. but overall, it's good enough for me (single person), and it heats up pretty nice and quick. (16oz bottle picture for comparison)
This isn't a bad little fryer. It's perfect for small families of 2 people or a single person. The food cooks rather quickly and evenly. It takes about 50fl ounces of oil to fill the fryer and I was able to use the fryer 3x's without having to add more oil. The basket holds about 3 pieces of battered (frozen fish) 2 large chicken strips or a single serve order of fries. The time it takes to heat up the oil is about 10 minutes. There is an indicator light when the oil is ready or hot enough. Different temps to cook your food. The lid has small vented holes if you choose to use it while cooking. The sides of the fryer do not get too hot either. The basket handle could be a bit of a pain to add to the basket. Otherwise, this is a pretty nice fryer.
This little fryer heats up right away it leaves those wings very crispy just as I like them which is awesome but you can only put five to six wings at a time…the thing that I didn’t like at all was the cleaning of the fryer it was a mess trying to get the used oil out, the aluminum bucket won’t come out
STOP! Read the 1-star reviews. They aren't lying. I too got burned, the basket fell off the rim and when I got back from the emergency room and tried again, it overflowed. The top is a joke; the rim is tin foil. I didn't expect a Cuisinart but Farberware should grind their name off the unit.
The first time you use this you should fill the oil to below the minimum level. It will boil over and cause a fire hazard. I had oil all over my counter and kitchen floor. The photo is the level the 2nd time I used it. I was cooking homemade french fries. I recommend you buy something else.
Use the fryer a handful of times gave no sign of any problems, for no reason for no signs of anything wrong, tried to turn it on, nothing like it has no power. Just so happens soon as the warranty runs out it dies, seems to me it was planned when they made it just the last so long like most Walmart products.
