This is the Best toaster that I have ever used by far! This thing cooks everything even, It cooks frozen pancakes and it has a button to stop and eject during cooking if you want to stop at any point. It is easy to clean and it looks great on my counter. This is the Rolls Royce of all toasters! Best 50 Bucks that you can spend on your kitchen!
Researched various toaster options before deciding to replace our 20 year old GE toaster with this one. ( The light-dark knob and cancel button on the old one had stopped working.) This fit the bill because it offered the functions we used (frozen, bagel, cancel, and toasting setting) in an attractive but not overstated design that fit well with our kitchen. All functions work as advertised. I'm delighted that I can now have a piece of light or medium toast without standing over the toaster to manually stop it at the right time. It heats up nicely and toasts quickly. I like that the cord can be guided through brackets underneath the toaster to shorten it and allow it to come out from the back. Also, the leaver can be raised a bit to grab the ready toast, so no more fishing the toast out with a wooden stick. This toaster is a bit lighter in weight than our older one but it still has a substantial feel. Wipes clean nicely. The price was a bit high but it had the features we wanted and our other GE laaaaasted, so we felt OK about going with a known brand. Happy with the purchase. Delivered promptly by WalMart.
I am happy with my GE Toaster. There are not very many quality toasters to pick from without paying a lot of money. Plus, the GE Toaster looks really nice.
It is a great Toaster. I love the wide slots that take anything from bread to muffins to bagels and especially love the cancel button my last toaster did not have one!
You can toast your bread or bagel to anywhere from nicely browned to what looks like something cremated. Wide slots accommodate various kinds and widths of bread or similar product.
America's Test Kitchen recommended this model GE model which is why I bought it to begin with. Firstly, this is a beautiful looking toaster so if you're looking for a high end look on your counter top this definitely fits the bill. Fingerprint issues are minimal. I was impressed by the size, shape %26 overall appearance of the toaster, no complaints whatsoever there. The toaster toasts at a reasonable pace, but it doesn't toast perfectly even on both sides. One other issue to note is that if you're making more than two pieces of toast consider that the second set is beginning with a hot toaster so lower the setting a bit to allow for a pre-heated toaster. It is not a 'smart' toaster so it doesn't reset temperature back to cold immediately after a use. Overall I plan to keep it %26 I like the fact it doesn't take up too much space on my countertop.
The toaster does well for the most part, but as I've found with other brands the bagel mode does not work. When bagel is selected both sides are equally toasted. The frozen mode works, but not predictable. Crumbs are mostly collected in the tray but the counter still ends up showing some debris. For what's available on the market today it's a solid choice.
I bought this toaster specifically for the feature that lets you toast from frozen because I keep my bread in the freezer. Unfortunately, even with the browning level cranked all the way up the frozen button does not toast a thin piece of frozen bread; it just makes it slightly warm. I have to let it go all the way through one cycle and then halfway through another. I want to be able to toast a piece of frozen bread in one cycle, and this toaster doesn't do that. Other than that, it's a good toaster. It's sturdy, and the cord is long enough to be used anywhere on my counter. The slots are wide enough to accommodate thick foods, and the crumb tray is easy to pull out. I recommend it if you don't want to toast from frozen.
For one thing, the toaster do not toast on both sides of the bread at the same time. When I flip it over to do the other side it get too crusty. The same problem I had with my other toaster I had for over 15 years. I thought it was time to get a new one, but this new one is doing the same as the old one, did.
The toaster I received toasts bread darker on one side, lighter on the other side. Both sides should be equal. The heating elements heat unevenly. Some are glowing orange. some not glowing at all! This uneven side toasting occurs on both slots.
