Great Value Canned Black Eyed Peas, 15.5 oz Can

Cowboy caviar or black eyed pea salad. Eat for good luck on New Years.. You have to have them to make soup with field peas and crowders with some polish sausage slices and beef broth. They are needed for some vegan burgers. Or just heat and eat for eating supper.

I make Hoppin' John every New Year's Day and this is the %231 requirement. I used to tell the kids they had to hop while eating it or they wouldn't receive the good luck. One April I also convinced them the raisins I tossed on the floor were a sign the Easter Bunny had come in the night to fill baskets, but it took a few years to get them to eat raisins after that.

I have one complaint. They are not peas, nor do they have eyes. Whoever the jackwagon was that named them thus does not understand what they are. But I will say, a rose by any other name still smells sweet, AND a black eyed pea, still tastes great!

This product saves me time and money. I don't have to go through the effort of picking and sorting. I prepare them as I would the dry Peas. Taste is amazing.

Black eyed peas are a lifelong staple for me . it's the side dish you've been missing in your diet. sop a biscuit in the sauce. Always check cans for a dent prior to cupboard storage.

These peas are always my choice when I want low sodium vegetables. Although they are not labeled low sodium, They taste delicious and they contain less sodium than other peas by other brands .

Very good product, not too salty, convenient can size with no waste. Nice complement to rice dishes, especially the venerable chicken and rice that I grew up with in the South.

This was the 1st time using this brand. We use them to sprinkle on our salads and to give to our dogs. They taste good. We rinse them before using them. They did have a lot of liquid and so during the rinsing we lost a lot of volume. Had we used them in a soup we would have been okay. Again they do taste good and I will continue to use them.

For years we have purchased these black eyed peas , but lately they are coming in a paste inside the can. Almost a creamed peas . This is the third time I have tried and apparently the batch is spoiled. We will try another brand for now.

This is the only Great Value item we have tried that were beyond a disappointment. They tasted so unpalatable that I threw them in the garbage. Since it was the first time we tried their blackeyed peas, I mixed them with a can of Bushes Black Eyed peas. However, the Great Value peas were very mushy and did not even remotely taste like black-eyed peas. Since I originally purchased 2 cans of the Great Value black-eyed peas, I threw the remaining can away. All other Great Value products have been fine, but these are totally yucky.
