Great tasting beans but look out for little rocks that sometimes end up in there. You don't want to break a tooth, so I suggest thoroughly checking the beans before cooking.
Great price, can't afford to eat normal food so rice and beans it is until prices become reasonable on other things. Wish they would sell in 25lb or 50lb bags instead of having to order six of these 8lb bags each time.
Good price, convenient packaging. Haven't found any rocks yet. I always rinse twice, soak overnight, season and cook 6-7 hrs in the slow cooker on low. No complaints. Very consistent results. I prefer black beans for taste, but pintos have different polyphenols and I'm trying to increase dietary variety. I've bought this 8lb bag maybe 4 times and I'll continue to buy it.
This is the kind of pantry item that makes a real difference if you cook regularly. The size alone gives you flexibility, you can make large batches, freeze portions, and still have plenty left. What stands out is how consistent these beans are once cooked. They come out tender with that creamy texture pinto beans are known for, and the flavor stays mild, which makes them easy to season however you want. They work well in everything from simple beans and rice to chili, soups, or refried beans. I like that you can control everything, salt, seasoning, texture, depending on how you cook them. That’s something you don’t get with canned beans. Whether you soak them or cook them straight through, they hold up well and don’t fall apart easily. For the price, it’s hard to beat. You’re getting a large amount of food that can stretch across multiple meals, and each serving still gives you solid protein and fiber. If there’s anything to keep in mind, it’s that dried beans take time to prepare, so you do need to plan ahead. But once you get into the habit, it’s worth it.
Great value is right! These are so versatile and also great for cooking if you're on a tight budget, which these days with the price of things, I'm sure a lot of people are! These make great bean soup, just add a pound of cleaned rinsed beans, chop up an onion into quarters or smaller if you like that, add some fresh garlic (to taste) and cook to package directions or until beans are soft, I salt at the end of cooking to taste. You can also add a ham bone while cooking for flavor, bacon etc. I like to top mine with some fresh chopped cilantro. You can also refry these, just take your beans from your bean soup, ladle them into a skillet with some of juice and find your potato masher! Cook down to the consistency you like for refried beans, adding more liquid if needed. Now you can grab your tortillas and cheese and make yourself a burrito! Or just have them as a side dish, top with shredded cheese, green onion or cilantro. Long winded review, but highly recommend these, one bag will give you 8 pots of bean soup that you can do different things with. Hope this helped someone on a budget like us.

if more people use these, it would cut way down on their grocery bill. put them in your crock pot all day. have a delicious, healthy, easy dinner. if you got a ham bone add it. season to taste. we like ours hot so I add some kind of peppers. onion whatever. or just eat them plain!
We eat a variety of beans through out the year, pintos being our favorite. Flavor as you like, can simmer all day for a no rush meal. Eat for any time. Freeze the leftovers. We purchase the large bag, best value. Thank you for the quick delivery.
GV Pinto beans are great but I always got inconsistent results. Even with overnight soaking I always got a few spoonfuls of hard beans. I tried pressure cooking with the insta-pot on high 30 minutes add 2 cups of water for every cup of beans. No soaking needed. They turn out perfect with no hard beans.
Good beans for the money taste good. Thees are not premium beans and you will need to pick through them and discard older beans. But for everyday cooking they are good enough.
