This rice is great, and it feels much fresher than other bagged rice. After living in the Philippines, jasmine rice is my go to for the closest it comes to authentic, delicious rice. I was so pleased to find a Great Value version of this rice, as it saves me money, while still getting great rice!
I generally don't purchase this rice. It was substituted from one that I actually wanted to order, but this rice turned out to be pretty good. I would definitely purchase it again if I had to.
my wife is Chinese and she has eaten several brands of Jasmin rice. she likes this one the best and the price is better than all the other brands Walmart offers
Amazing rice!! If you rinse it a few times in the pot you’re cooking in to get rid of some of the starch it comes out nice and tender!! Even if you didn’t rinse it’s still a great brand of rice. I rinse my rice no matter what brand. Love this rice!
I love this brand of jasmine rice. I've tried other branding comparison, and this one is very similar. The water rinses clear and upon cooking the rice is not sticky.. and this rice does not have a strong smell. I have noticed a quick price increase of over $2.50 in less than 2 years. Jasmine rice will not leave you feeling overfull or bloated!
Doesn't really taste like it should - the flavor is closer to regular medium grain white rice. Still good and completely edible, but disappointing when you're hoping for that nice flavor from jasmine rice. After eating California blend Jasmine Rice for a while, I figured I'd see what the 20cent cheaper generic was. Next time, I'll spend the extra to ensure I'm getting what I'm aiming for.
This batch of Jasmine rice that I bought recently tasted different from what I expected. It isn’t very fragrant, and the grains came out dry and not sticky. It’s okay for everyday use, but it doesn’t have the CLASSIC Jasmine flavor or texture!
As a 35-year consumer of Jasmine rice, I know how Jasmine rice should smell and taste. I have been buying GV Jasmine rice for a long time, and it was fine until October 28, 2025, when I bought the same product again. At first, I thought I had accidentally grabbed the wrong one because the taste and smell were very different from the GV Jasmine rice I had been buying before. This is NOT Jasmine rice. There is no Jasmine aroma at all. I thought the problem might be my sense of smell, but when I went to my friend’s house and smelled her Jasmine rice from Sam’s Club, I realized my nose was not the issue. Today, I asked my husband to pick up Jasmine rice from the store—same brand, same packaging—and once again, it was the same rice I bought last time. It does NOT smell like Jasmine rice, and the taste is not the same. I am extremely disappointed and will not be purchasing this brand again.
Do not buy this bag of rice, something is wrong with it! I’ve been making Mexican rice all my life and prefer making it with jasmine rice. Something isn’t right with this bag of rice! Since opening it I have used it twice. First time I just thought it was a fluke but I tried again today and even rinsed the rice and same results. Rice won’t brown no matter what and is all sticky in the pan/pot. It turns out like I’m making risotto or sushi rice. I have NEVER had this happen ever. Walmart did refund me but people need to be warned not to buy this rice.
Bad lot... any time I prepare it, it always stays sticky. Bad taste... not the same taste that the usual great value Jasmine rice that we bought. Sorry, but it is my honest opinion.
