Easy to use and natural results

Heather July 7, 2025

This worked great for me. I live in Georgia, where the summers are hot and no rain, but also humidity can be high. This grass blend has stood up to the hot Georgia summer! I laid this out in bare spots in my yard in May. I did absolutely nothing to prep the ground just laid it out, tacked it down, so it did not blow away and watered it once. I was fortunate enough to get a lot of rain after this for several weeks so did minimal manual watering. This grass immediately started growing. While it did not come in thick, it did come in quickly and did grow fast. It is great for starting a lawn or grassy area if you have not done any prep work and are on tight budget. Once it fully comes in and I cut it, I will overseed it again, fertilize and allow it to continue to spread. I prefer a natural look so this is perfect for me! It did take several weeks of heavy water before the green matting disappeared from the lawn. It is not as quick as hydroseeding, but it is also very minimal in price compared to having a professional company come out. If you are looking for professional results quickly, I recommend you up your budget and pay for sod. If you were looking to just start some grass growing in bare spots in your yard, and you don’t care strongly about the thickness or look right away, then this is a great option for you easy to use and inexpensive

Follow instructions and it will work.

Brandie April 14, 2026

This product definitely works. I’m glad I gave it a chance rather than jumping at some of the negative reviews. Some tips: keep it wet. You don’t need to completely drench it, just water it once or twice a day. This will prevent it from blowing away and will actually water the seeds so that they do what they are intended to do. We went a step further and spread a Bermuda and rye blend first and then put the sheets on top. We wanted it extra thick. This helped to protect the seeds we spread and kept us on top of watering. In a week, the grass is growing where it never did before, in both shaded and sunny areas. Pics were taken April 9th and April 15th

Great product

scrubtechnnc March 16, 2026

I put this down to repair a large stretch of my lawn last summer. The process was so easy. After the prep work of removing the patchy old grass down to smooth topsoil, just laying these sheets out and watering them in was simple. After a couple of weeks of insuring the stayed damp we had new grass forming. Now we have a nice carpet that continues to thicken.

it works!

Krysten April 17, 2026

we had pretty good results with this. it seemed like a risk to purchase with so many bad reviews but it was worth it! we have a sandy patch in the back yard that can't seem to grow grass. I added less than an inch of soil and then rolled out the growtrax and watered 3x daily. after almost three weeks it's looking pretty good and I'm suprised at how well it's coming in!

It works, but requires more labor than advertised.

Rita April 12, 2026

It works, but there are quite a few more steps involved than the product description indicates. You will need to clear all existing grass, weeds, and other growth, till the soil, and water the soil before laying the growtrax. Keep it moist. 1 week in and I'm seeing new growth.

Not Best in All Conditions

Douglas April 30, 2026

I liked that it has two types of grass seed and fertilizer embedded in the mat. I liked that it is flexible to fit any shaped area. I did not like the following: 1. The written instructions were unclear. The video was more useful, although I watched it after first installation attempt. 2. It is very difficult to find a spring day that's not breezy. The landscape stakes I purchased weren't great at holding it in place due to its tissue like consistency. It tears so easily. I needed some ballast (gravel) to hold edges down. 3. The grow rate has not been as promised, at least in my application. Some areas were damaged from environmental affects. I replanted some new annual rye seed in the damaged area and it sprouted in just a few days and has out grown the mat seed which has been down over a month. 4. The mat does not dissolve into the ground, at least not yet for me. I'm waiting to see what the Bermuda seed does.

Don't waste your money

Frankie May 23, 2026

Don't waste your money. Great concept but poor execution. You'd think that after you wet it, it would stay put. But, if a gust of wind over 10mph during the first week that it's down. It's going to blow away. Super frustrating, especially for how much it costs. I tried gardening stakes and rocks, neither helped. If you live in a windy area. I'd recommend something other than this.

Nothing Yet

Cole May 12, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put my grow trax down about 10 days ago. I got the tall fescue mix, I don't have any results yet. I raked and broke up the soil rolled it out, and have been watering it twice a day (before and after work). I don't have anything sprouting yet. I will update the review as time goes. I have already noticed however in my state (Kansas) we have a lot of wind and it is a challenge keeping it in place and moist like it recommends. I would appreciate some feed back from Growtrax as to how to battle that situation.

starting to see sprouts

tony May 10, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm holding back on a rating right now. I did put down the Grow Trax on April 27th. We raked up the top soil watered it down real well before laying down the Grow Trax. I have been watering it 3 times a day. I started seeing some sprouting grass this past weekend and hoping to see more as the days go on. The weather has been in the 40s some nights so I'm going to think that has slowed down the process a little. I will get back at the end of the week to further update and give a rating.

Waste of time and money

Jackie H May 7, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Complete waste of time as far as we were concerned. Placed it on the slope, secured it with the makers pegs, wet as instructed. Moments later it blew off and ended up in pieces all over the yard. It wasn't very windy, I'd call it a breeze. Tried to get it back but it kept breaking up. Wouldn't use again.
