Like the Bold setting to slow the brewing rate to get stronger coffee. I buy "breakfast blend" coffee: smooth, little bitterness. The Bold setting lets me get it a bit stronger, and also ensures the water flow is lower to prevent backflow up and over the paper filter which allows grounds to get into the exit port that can block it and cause an overflow inside that makes a mess outside. Can lift and rotate the basket a little bit to keep the top propped up to allow air drying of the grounds after brewing. The pot has a nice lip for pouring. No problem with the water backtracking along the lip and flowing down the pot and making a mess.
I've had the coffee maker for a few weeks and I'm happy with it. I like the programmable feature...just set it for the strength I want and forget it. It's easy to use and I haven't had any problems. It would be nice if the clock would light when programming but can't beat the price so that is not an issue.
Would have given it five stars... BUT, YES, it is programmable, HOWEVER, when setting the clock, there is NO distinction between am/pm, SO, you need to program it after the pm hour has past... EXAMPLE, I want it to go on at 6 am... however, after I clean it and prep for the next day, if I hit the program button, it will brew @ 6 in the evening... make sense???... other than that, good maker, good price, very happy!
Have you heard the saying, You get what you pay for, This Coffee maker is not the best by far, but it is not the worst by far. It turns on, It makes coffee, or Tea as desired, It looks plain, but it works just fine, My only complaint it if it came with a re-usable filter, I had to go to Wal-Mart and pick one up for 3.00 dollars, so I would not have to use paper filters, I consider those old school uses, and is not used today. After I purchased I saw a Mr. Coffee unit, for 5.00 more, so buyers regret, No, I will just decide later on that.
Works well with no issues. Only concern is if you want a cup of coffee right away it's not super hot, it gets hotter if you let it sit on the burner. Haven't tried the programmable settings yet.
This coffee maker is easy to use and easy to program. The coffee it brews is just okay, as it seems it has to be on the Bold setting to make a regular tasting cup of coffee. The Regular setting makes a weaker cup. We have also noticed that the coffee is not as hot as other makers we have had. I don't know if this is due to the brew temperature or the warmer. Also, the white letters/text on the semi-transparent reservoir window makes for difficult reading. So, overall, it's just okay. I will be looking for a new coffee maker and keep this one as a back-up.
I was really excited for this coffeemaker, but the flavor of my coffee just wasnt there :( the coffeemaker says you need at least 15 ml of coffee and thats just so much for just one cup and not even getting the true flavor of my coffee grounds! So Im returning this product because I bought the cousine art coffee maker from Costco and that made my coffee so exquisite and amazing! And it also only requires 5 ml of coffee grounds so.....Unfortunately, I dont recommend this Hamilton coffeemaker sorry :(
This is a CHEAP coffee pot. The tray doesn't keep the coffee hot after it's made and the coffee drips so slowly when it's brewing that the coffee filter gets full and then coffee grounds end up in the coffee pot. The picture looks nice but the second you take it out of the box you know it's cheap. I will not buy another Hamilton Beach product again.
I chose this model for its many great features, however it leaked the 4 times I used it. I tried again today only to find my counter completely flooded! Upon very close inspection, I found a hairline crack down the neck of the appliance. I will return immediately but hope to get another of same model without a crack!!!
Looks nice, easy buttons, but very dangerous. If I could give this 0 stars, I would. It splatters water all over the place, doesn't pause if you take the carafe out, then spills even more water all over. When I tried to clean up, it started leaking from the bottom. Don't buy this!
