Hamilton Beach Rice Cooker

I don't have extensive cupboard space so this compact cooker fit my needs. It also will steam vegetables WHILE THE RICE COOKS. I plan to use it for hot cereal in the morning. 'Directions were minimal with diagram of condensation cup. There are 4 parts to clean each time you use it. The manufacturer posted "do not throw away rice measure cup---but maybe they should make in neon green the plain plastic looks like a yogurt cup...

Perfect size for one or two people. I put the rice, water and seasonings in the bottom, veggies in the steamer basket, turn it on and soon I have a meal for two. Auto shut off and keep warm feature is perfect for me.

Rice taste great. The steaming basket is small. I would say it's a size for 2 servings.

Makes cooking rice simple

Works great! It is just me and my son, we need to make a small amount of rice and not stand over the stove for 20 minutes. Put the rice and water in, start it and when it is done it keeps the rice warm. We are going to use it again tonight.

I have always had an Aroma brand rice cooker, and I have to say the Hamilton Beach brand is just a great of product. I left one star off because I feel that the inside pot should be much bigger.

First time using the Hamilton Beach rice cooker, the switch did not release when the rice was cooked so the rice started to burn. Had our smoke alarm not gone off and had I not heard it while in the backyard, we would have had a kitchen fire! Smoke was pouring from the rice cooker when I ran back in the house, but fortunately was able to unplug it before it set the kitchen on fire. Even after cooling the switch was still stuck. When I finally got the switch loose, it would no longer stay down. Clearly a defective switch with no failsafe!
