There are so many things to love about this mower. First of all, I’ve always hated the smell of gasoline every time I opened our storage shed, so I was thrilled when Hart offered up this mower for review through the Spark team. When the machine arrived, the first thing I noticed about it was it’s very cool, somewhat space-agey look. After reading through the instructions and charging the battery, which only took a few hours by the way, we decided to try it out. According to the instructions, remove the key put the battery in its slot and put the key in. Select the mowing height you’d like also. There are very clear instructions on the top of the unit also as far as how to start, which levers control the self propulsion and the blades, and there is also a speed control of the self-propelled mode, which is very cool also. I engaged in the slowest speed which was a perfectly good pace for me, you may want it a little faster. There is a mulch plug or a bagger that comes with the unit so you use either/or. And one of the biggest things I noticed about this was how quiet it is when it’s running. I think I could even more with 6:30 in the morning and not disturb my neighbors. I can’t say enough about this mower, so easy to use, it looks good and cuts well. And you can even store it upright so it doesn’t take up as much space as you might think. No negatives at all to report, give it a try.
The 40-Volt Cordless Brushless 20-inch Self-Propelled Mower Kit by Hart, when i opened the box it looked more like a sleek racing car than a lawn mower. The handles attached easily and the height adjustment is a breeze to change at one spot. The battery charged up okay and slots into the battery holder and you insert the key -good to see the battery charger is small so doen`t take up my counter space. This mower cut my lush grass with no problems, sometimes i have to rock my gas mower because its choking out but i didn`t experience that problem with this battery mower. It has a lot of brilliant white plastic for its covering -im hoping that it doesnt absorb the grass stains. This machine makes yard work faster, easier.
This is the best lawnmower ive ever had. No gas which is so much better for out climate. Charge this mower in a few hours then cut my whole yard in one hour. It practically mowed the yard by itself, all I had to pretty much do was guide it where I wanted it to cut. I have to say this is the best way ever to cut grass.
Lawnmower has been great! Working just as a gas operated mower. My only concern is the battery. After mowing the lawn, I charged the battery as usual. A week later went to mow the grass and I received two red beeps and flashes. Not sure what happened but I had to buy a new battery at a whopping price of $158. I’ve only owned the mower for 3 months so the battery gets a zero in rating. I prefer electric over gas because the gas smell from the mower gets into the house and that’s not good. I’m in an HAO that doesn’t allow for outdoor storage. I am writing this review while holding for customer service. Update. Customer service was outstanding!! With purchase verification, They replaced my battery. There was no haggling or going back and forth about the situation. Should have my new battery in 10-14 days. Now I will have two batteries which is fine because when I use the grass catcher, I need the 2nd battery to complete the yard in one mowing because of the size of my yard.
Great for my situation I'm having back issues a bad the pull cord start style is a no go. Ladies with this easy push button start and propel function as a definite help. I suggest you buy one of these! yes, you have to unload the bag but it is still very simple, it even has a gage for how fast do you want the propelled motion to move forward, it's very nice! You have to charge the battery of course but it doesn't take long to fill the charge for the next section of the house. I'd say .long enough so you can have a cool glass of sweet tea! Lol 😆 It is a star 🌟 for me!
I am a disabled female and was concerned about the weight of the mower, and whether the Hart mower would work for me even though it was self propelled. I bought it on Walmart.com. I did not load it into my car. A very nice man named Scott at the McCart Ave store in Fort Worth was on Walmart pick-up duty to load the mower into the car. My next worry was about unloading it because of my disabilities. I was able to push/slide the smooth-bottomed box out of my car. I slid the box out of the car onto my feet. It did not feel heavy at all. I already had another item to let the mower drop onto so there would be no impact to the floor. The smooth bottom of the box made it easy to slide around with my feet to allow enough room to roll the mower out, I sliced the packing tape, opened the box, and pried the heavy-duty staples out which was the hardest and most time-consuming part. I discovered that the mower was already assembled and ready to push out. All I had to do was extend the handle which snapped into place without any trouble like the instruction diagram indicated. I was worried about turning it on end to check for the piece of wood that the illustration indicated was underneath. They could change that. That part indicates how to change a blade, but confuses the buyer into thinking there is a piece of wood lodged like a safety piece you find while unpacking other items like printers or toaster ovens. Anyway, I put my foot on one tire and lifted. It wasnt any heavier than lifting my 13-lb bag of cat food . I rolled the mower out and nervously began doing something my disability has prevented years. The motor started right up with the push button. I set the Cruise Control on the lowest because I was afraid it would take off too fast for me. I pulled the self-propel bars toward me, and off we went on a nice leisurely pace. I didnt even have to push or pull to turn. Holding down one of the self-propel handles was like leading a horse in the direction you want to ride. The only problem I had with this experience was that I didnt place the bag correctly. I finally figured out that it was a user problem. My grass was mostly weed growth and quite tall. This mower tackled the job with ease. There were a few resistant-weed areas that I had to re-mow, but from what I remember about a heavy-duty gas mower, the need to re-mow a few areas again was the same. Weeds with stickers are awful, argh! I took a phone call and could hear above the noise; otherwise, the only thing I could hear were the stickers clicking underneath. It passed my disability test and the weed/sticker test. I can't wait to mow again, and to buy the blower weed-eater combo. That will have to wait to save up money again. When I go into my garage, I see my new mower stored on its end. I cant wait to mow again. I was a little sore the next morning, but Yay! I did it thanks to Hart and their building a mower that even I can use.
Best lawn mower. Light weight easy to use. Battery is good for a large yard. I love it. I'm 68 and do my lawn. This makes things easier. No more gas cans .
The mower is quiet and a good self propelled but, if the grass is wet on a hill over a 45 degree angle the tires do tend to slip but, the wieght of the mower is light enough a little push and it climbs right up the hill. I ran it 45 minutes and it still had enough power in the battery to cut well. It even has head lights to mow at night or early in the morning.
This an updated review as I already did a review on this mower, but want to warn people on issues they may run into with the batteries. First when I received this mower with only one 5Ah battery, it cut almost my whole back yard which is 130 by 160 ft. Now it only cuts half of that on a full charge. The issue here is I live where it rains and storms a good few days making the grass nice and thick. I attached a picture to show the height of the grass. I had my mower on level 3 for grass tallness. The mower was having to work extra hard to cut through, making a louder sound and vibrating more up to the handle. I let my mower up every few steps to keep clogs down. I can never use the propel feature that I paid more for bc it drains the battery way to quickly. Now my front yard grass does not grow as thick and can mow with one battery usually. Thing is I paid close to $400 for the mower itself. Bought the only battery in stock 2Ah for $87, then finally got another 5Ah for $167 meaning I have a total of 3 batteries and only half my yard is cut for an extra $260 spent. I think these batteries only work great if your grass has barely grown and there has been no rain for days. The second photo shows how long the first 5Ah battery lasted before dying. I had the other half of the back yard to cut and the other 2 batteries died before even finishing the back yard fully. I understand the grass is thicker so this is my warning to ppl with big yard like myself. You will have to spend more money on the batteries. I wrote a review here also because the 5Ah battery is not even listed on the site now. I overall still like the mower, but think the batteries could use an upgrade or some kind of discount since the performance is affected. I read another review on how the grass was knee high and had no issue, while if I go over what is pictured here, the mower starts to struggle and die unless I lift it up?? Any tips greatly appreciated.
The battery life on the included battery is god awful. Idk what other reviewers were paid to say it was great and charges quickly because that's not true at all. It takes 3 hours to fully charge the 6Ah 40V battery after the charger "tests" the battery for 30 minutes, and it'll get you about an hour of mowing time. Less if you use the self-propelling feature. Probably the biggest waste of cash I've spent considering I got a gas mower for 75 bucks that works 5 times better than this one. Do yourself a favor and look for a different mower because this one's not it.
