An excellent German bread knife cuts German rye
I had been struggling to slice German rye bread for awhile now when it occured to me to buy a new bread knife. German knives have a good reputation so I bought this one. I sliced German rye bread with this knife for the first time today and it was just like what I experienced living in Germany. Hooray!

Although I purchased this as a 'new apartment' gift for my son, I got to use it right away as I also had baked him a loaf of ciabatta. We're both extremely pleased with the performance and feel and, for the price, the quality is excellent. I will keep this brand in mind for future purchases.

Put to good use immediately. Sub sandwiches nice and fluffy and not mushed down like my others before I got this knife

I purchased this Knife as a replacement the previous knife was over 10 years old, and this new knife is the same amazing quality. I really like the quality of the product and look forward to many years of use.

just not for me
not for me - I am looking for knives with less tearing and more smooth cutting - can't seem to find the right blades

this knife is sharp, fairly well balanced, and reasonably comfortable in your hand. Unfortunately, the blade is only sharpened on one side, so it's not symmetrical, and always wants to pull to the left on the way down, which makes it difficult to make straight, even slices. I am returning it and would not recommend it.
