This is probably the best value you will ever get for Santoku knives. A quality brand and a quality product. The blades are super sharp; I should know, I cut myself twice! These simply Clyde through fruits, vegetables, meats, virtually everything. The fact that there are two knives with two sizes makes things so much more efficient. In fact, I use the 5 inch knife exclusively for things I would normally use a paring knife for. Get these and you will take your cooking to a whole new level.
Absoletely love this for the price, after spending a year hating a Thyme %26 Table set every day. I hadn't heard of Henckels but did some research, and it's a very respected knife company based in Germany. These cheaper Henckels knives are made in China or India but probably still the best cheap kitchen knives on WM, in addition to their Chef Knife. If you want even better quality, look for Henckels' higher-end knives with a two-man icon on the blade.
I like the weight of these knives and the solid feel of the grip. This set has a 5" and a 7" knife. I use the 7" the most. The blade has a slight curved edge which makes it easier for me to use as opposed to the straight edge on my former "go to" favorite knife. The blade was sharp but not as sharp as I expected it to be so I sharpened it and now it is my new favorite knife! I also like that they are dishwasher safe. I usually hand wash my knives but I like to throw them in the dishwasher occasionally. Overall they are very good knives. I am happy with them.
I love to cook and when I saw these knives with Asian blades, I had to buy them. They are super sharp and hold the edge very good, and I sharpen them on crock sticks to hold the angles. These knives should hold up under daily usage for many years, as the blades passes through the handle, full tang, making a stronger blade.
I decided to get this set to match my other Henckels knife set (Everpoint 3 piece starter set) that I recently got so I can have the full 5 piece knives from this brand. This knife set includes a 7” Santoku knife which I find extremely useful in cutting potatoes. I don’t know why potatoes tend to get stuck onto all my knifes whenever I cut them, and it sometimes cause an almost-accident but this Santoku knife have little “dimples” that seems to stop the potatoes from getting stuck into the knife! The set also comes with a 5” Santoku knife that also have the “dimples” on them and I usually use this one mainly for much smaller ingredients, like chopping herbs and small vegetables or fruits. Both my husband and I use these knives in the kitchen and we both have very different size hands. We both agree the handles of the knives are very comfortable to use, and it feels great on the hand! I am thinking about getting more sets to match the rest of these knives, perhaps the steak knife set. Wonderful knifes and very popular brand!
I like the weight design and size of these knives they are high quality and should last for years. I really like this brand and have the cookware and block knife set.
these knives are super duper Sharp which is what I was looking for. they cut like butter with little or no pressure down on the knife while cutting. easy to control the knife and what you're cutting. I've got cheese and onion and different vegetables and all cut very nicely. I would buy these knives over and over again and even great idea for gifting. very good quality knives for the price. they are very beautiful as well. I only washed by hand and didn't run in my dishwasher so I'm not sure how that would turn out. they're so easy to clean up.
When looking for another knife I kept thinking of the type of knife I currently would reach for first in my knife block. My current Santoku style knife has been my go-to first for many years. It is versatile, well balanced, and fits my hand comfortably. When I came across the Henckels brand EverPoint 2 pc. Asian Knife Set I decided I would give them a try. Pros: Recognized brand name. Nice construction especially the blade, a fine edge, blade and tang are one piece of steel. Handle is comfortable, even for large hands (7” knife only). Well balanced (7” knife only). The handle, blade size gives a good bolster length, thus allowing knuckle clearance when cutting or chopping (7” knife only). Good stated warranty. Cons (This applies to the 5” knife only): The handle is to short and small and is not comfortable for me to use. My wife did not like the size of the handle either and she has small hands. I would suggest holding the knives before purchase if possible. Cons (This applies to both knives): Registering the knives for the warranty, per Henckels guidelines is extremely difficult. The QR code (on box) takes you to a web site that did not recognize the item number printed on their box. The phone number printed on their box was not in service. Once I found a phone number from Henckels web site, the nice person that was helping me could not find the item number in their system? Said that he would get back to me and so far, nothing yet. Overall, I am pleased with the 7” knife and the fact that it will give me many years of cutting, chopping and slicing. The smaller knife will get lost in the back of a drawer in my kitchen… I would recommend this product to anyone as long as the knives fit your hand comfortably. Thank you.
sharp and pointy, I likey.
I've purchased Henkels knives in the past and were excellent quality. not these. only the 1/8 " on the edge is hardened. the smaller one was dull when it arrived. and after sharpening it the third time with a store bought knife sharpener I cut through the hardened edge. also the handle on the smaller one is for small hands. difficult to control if you have large hands like i do. the bigger one is slightly better quality but really only a butcher knife. has a thick blade not suitable for prep work which is what I wanted them for. i just didn't want to spend 50 bucks on a household knife but now I'm going to anyway. lesson learned.
