Great product and really does thicken w/o sacrifice of flavor. I used this item in canned pie filling for a cherry pie. Used 1/4 cup for two cans of filling. Next time I will half that amount. Filling was too thick, but it definitely does thicken. Always had trouble with cherry pie filling swarming when first slice was removed. This stuff stops the swarm from happening. Will try the instant Clearjel in next pie. The instant thickens before baking so you know what to expect when finished. At least that is what the internet says about the product.
Purchased to make homemade apple pie filling. Worked great didn't have any issues with product doing what it is supposed to do. Will be purchasing again when I use up what I have.
It would be nice if Sure Jell would include recipes for canning pie filling. Its a great product that I like to use but you have to hunt %26 research prior to using it for canning pie filling. Lots of conflicting info on the internet.
This is the only product to use for canned pie fillings. It allows heat to penetrate throughout the jar, keeping the filling thickened, stable, and safe for future use.
I had never heard of this product until I was making homemade pie filling. This product is great I would recommend
Not sure how it differs from corn starch, but my pie filling recipes call for it when canning pie filling. It worked fine. No issues
I had never used this product, but saw where someone used it on a recipe. The price was ok so I bought it. I definitely would purchase this again.
I used this when I was waterbath canning both peach and apple pie filling. It worked great, without any gooey looking clumps in the filling.
Great product and fast shipping
While the product did its job, I found that when using it, the stuff went EVERYWHERE. You couldn't even breath near it and you would get a cloud of it. Also my bag must have had a pinhole in it because there was powder all over the inside of the box and there was a little puff when I moved the bag. I couldn't seem to find the darn thing, so I had to put it into a different container.
