HORMEL Chicken Tamales, Shelf-Stable, 15 oz Steel Can

My family loves the Mexicali Casserole I have made since the kids were middle school age. It was always made with this brand of tamales, but beef. My baby is 68 years old now and still gets excited when it's on the menu for supper, but tries to eat less beef/red meat. When ordering groceries from Walmart I can across the chicken variety and we loved it. I bag all the ingredients together in the pantry for Mexicali together which makes this pantry dinner super easy to put together. Now it is all I use for this recipe, or even just as tamales with other Mexican items.

I really like these over the beef tamales. The flavor is quite nice and has much less grease than the beef tamales.

We used to buy these all the time but the local Walmart no longer carries it These are good for a quick side to tacos. We like that they are low fat, they are spicy and the texture is decent for being canned. I believe the last can we opened had 6 tamales in it

When we do not feel like cooking a whole meal, we have a “fend for your self” night. My go-to for dinner is a can of these tamales. I empty the can into a microwaveable bowl, remove the parchment off, put some yellow mustard on each tamale, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and heat. Instant meal. Great during sports on tv.

Hormel's Chicken Tamales are a quick and tasty meal and a good alternative to canned chili. I drain out most of the sauce in which these are packed, heat half the contents and enjoy with a green salad. This makes as satisfying lunch or dinner and i still have the other half of the can to enjoy as a second meal later. 4 stars rather than 5 because i find the sauce a bit too oily, but otherwise a good pick-me-up. I recommend.

They are okay for being canned.

There was a 3" long straight black hair in this. I am completely bald. Under federal Health and Safety laws all employees of canning companies are required to wear hairnets to prevent this. Obviously Hormel is NOT following the law. I will never buy from this company again. Who knows what else is in their cans?

I ordered 8 but only received 2. I've found it hard to get these delivered with my order. I thought I would get them shipped to me like last time but they haven't messaged me about it yet.

They shipped it in a envelope bag and every can was damaged. They want me to either print a label and ship it back ( I dont own a printer) or take it to walmart or fedex. I don't own a car and the trip one way will be over $20. Being poor and rural is difficult enough but now walmart has made it more difficult. This was part of my food for the rest of the month.
