This little thing is impressive. I bought this to keep around the house when my main tools are at a jobsite and I need to get something done around the house. Very comfortable grip, and the trigger is smooth and easy to pinpoint a speed. I wish the battery charged a little quicker, but for the price.... it's fine with me.

very good lightweight drill with plenty of power..

whazits November 6, 2025

I have used this drill for many outdoor projects; It really fits the kind of drill for which I was looking. Before this I had 4V drills that were low on power for the project or 20V-24V ones which were good, but heavy to use. This 12V one is the perfect in-between for me!

Excellent Value and Performance

anonymous October 22, 2025

The drill has surprisingly high torque. It easily drives 3 inch deck screws. The quality and finish are on par with the premium brands. The battery life is somewhat limited, but more than enough for most projects. I regret not buying it sooner.

I highly recommend this drill, especially for general and home use. I looked at many different drills, and for the price, the quality seems to be a good choice. The drill is easy to use, has a good battery life, and the different speeds are very useful.

I already had their new contact driver and oscillating tool, loved both so decided to get this as the impact is providing more and more utility due to it's low weight and small size. First impression of the drill, good - good build quality, now had a metal chuck, nice and peppy. One caveat though, buy the 6Ah while it's price is low (keeps going up - got mine when they were 35). The 6Ah turns this and the impact into different tools. More RPM, more IPMs (on the impact), better battery life, moreeee power. I find myself turning to these now for work around the house more vs using my 24v tools unless I'm using a recip or circular saw. Today i mounted several items to my garage walls (block) using just the drill and impact. With a good masonry bit no issues drilling holes in the block once the holes are ready this impact is a beast - I've cracked several items because i underestimate it's power and it drives those concrete anchors well. Extremely pleased with all the items from their 12v line so far, hoping they continue to release new gens and *fingers crossed* we get some high output batteries with since tables cells inside. If you're on the fence about these buy it along with a 6Ah and give it a try, worst comes to worst you can return it, but i doubt you would need to. Highly recommend these.

Great performing drill

Matt October 23, 2024

The brushless versions of these Hyper tough tools are awesome. These compare to my higher cost Milwaukee M12 fuels with the metal chuck, size, and performance. The bigger 4 and 6 ah batteries really wake these up, definitely a must if you plan to use them for bigger jobs.

A Milwaukee competitor

Lydia April 15, 2025

I have multiple 20v cordless versions and although not as powerful being 12v it has more than enough power to accomplish the majority of tasks. I have recently purchased 4 of the hyper tough 12v tools and for the price, weight, and ergonomics they are hard to beat. If you have doubts watch YouTube videos comparing these with Milwaukee brand 12v tools remembering you can buy 3 of these for the price of 1 of the other.

Good overall

Walmartfrequentshopper October 4, 2024

This is a steal for the discounted price where you get a brushless drill driver with a battery and a charger. I could not find anything on the market that comes even close. Also, this drill was the most powerful in terms of torque in the Hyper Tough lineup until recently even surpassing the 20V brushed hammer drill. My one gripe is that I wish the trigger response was better. Not sure if I got one that is off or of they all are the same. The brushed one has better trigger response.

Okay DIYer Drill, but no Cigar

JOHN January 20, 2026

This is a replacement drill. I have another Hyper Tough 12-volt max cordless two-speed drill that failed some months back while I was using it. It is a model 98807. I attempted to return it to Walmart within the 2-year warranty, as described in the owner's manual, but they would not replace it. I called the number in the Instruction Manual twice and was told the second time that one would be sent to me, at no charge, but I've never received one. That was months ago. It's a great little drill for the money, but the problem with it is that the torque adjustment cannot be returned to the drill-only position, other than that, it runs fine. You could fall in love with it in short order. I attached a copy of the original sales receipt, and it shows that I am still in warranty, but I am having a difficult time getting a warranty replacement. Walmart was useless in this regard. I went to the hyper tough website and copied and pasted the support email address and the email got kicked back at me so there is no support. The best comment I've seen about these tools so far is that you have to think of 'em like an electric razor; it's gonna have a life and it may not be very long. Spend your money on a more reputable, bigger-name brand like Skil or Ridgid.

Missing battery

Kimberly July 17, 2025

This was an online pickup. When i got home and opened up the box the battery was missing. Now I need to return it. I am worried that I will be questioned about the missing part.
