We live in the country and have iron in our water. It always takes several days to a week to clear the pool along with a hillbilly filter added to it. I thought I would try this bigger, sand filter and see if it helped. I hooked it up, added the chemicals and turned it on. I was very impressed with the power and quietness of the filter. You will need 2- 50lb bags of sand to fill it past the minimum point. The filter started right up. I was impressed with the power of the flow coming out of it. The current nearly reached across the emtire 18ft pool. I did not hook up my hillbilly filter just to see how the new intex filter did first. I came back outside 3 hours later and the water was nearly clear!!!!! I couldnt believe it! After 5 hours of use, its almost perfect! I am so impressed and happy with my purchase!! I would highly recommend!!!
My pool is 22' round and 53" deep. This pump has plenty of power to keep the water filtered and clear. I run mine non-stop from pool open to close, so the end of May until mid-September. I had to replace my last one (same model) in July because the control panel broke so i couldn't turn it on or off. It's a terrific pump.
Bought this pump for my soft sided pool. A bit stronger than required, but no issues from that. Putting together the pump setup wasn't difficult. I did have to buy different hoses and connectors, but that's because my pool isn't an Intex. I just installed this today, 7/24/2025, if there are any issues I'll come back and update my review.
sturdy construction, 2-year factory warranty, all of the things needed to set up . Pump with strainer, 18" sand filter., timer, hoses, inlet and outlet. Great price. Using it on a 1000-gallon stock tank pool ,had a smaller used intex pump which worked very well, but decided to go larger to circulate water at a faster rate.
So far this Sand filter pump has run great we have had no problems with it and I think it cleans the pool much better than the regular pump we had by Intex that wasn't even lasting through the summer so right now we are really enjoying the sand filter pump thanks Intex for making such a great product
After a summer of reliable performance, the Intex 10-inch Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pool Pump truly exceeded expectations by keeping the pool water sparkling and clean. The setup was remarkably straightforward and easy, allowing for quick installation and hassle-free operation. Unlike standard filters that require frequent changing, this sand filter is a perfect solution that delivered on its promise of crystal clear water throughout the summer. For anyone seeking a dependable and easy-to-set-up filter that keeps their pool very clean, this pump is an excellent choice.
I wish I had bought this pump a month ago! Replaced the original small pump this pump moves the water really well. I’m using filter balls instead of sand and so far this pump has been an excellent upgrade!
Far better than the supplied filter. Does require regular monitoring and flushing but still a far more economical choice in the long run over filter cartridges.
It didn't come with instructions on how to use it. And watching other videos on other pumps this one doesn't have a rinse option after backwashing. It's hard finding a video on how to work this exact model.
Takes some setup to get it prepared and settled, but the payoff is worth it. Crystal clear water in a 2900 gallon pool without having to change filters.
