KitchenAid 4.5-Qt. Coated Flat Beater, K45B

I have a K45 mixer and need to replace the flat beater due to the same issue everyone is having - chipped coating. I am hesitant to buy this one because everyone says it's poor quality or doesn't fit their mixer. What are we consumers supposed to do? This is crazy!

This is the 2nd replacement for this size beater. Sadly, it did the same thing the first one did. It is wearing at the bottom. It does not hit the bottom of the bowl and it is not used everyday for this kind of wear. We use a small rubber tipped spatula to remove any dough or batter that is left on the beater. We treat this beater as if it is made of glass.

My white coated beater did last for about 15 years but it started to chip. I purchased the Stainless-Steel flat beater and I absolutely love it. It is heavier in weight than the coated beater and it reaches all the way down to the bottom of my 4.5 quart bowl.

I bought the stand mixer on January 2026. I only used the flat beater twice and it's already chipped. Terrible accessories. Although I made sure the beater would not touch the bottom of the bowl by running it empty before adding any batters, after hand washed it, the bottom of the beater is still chipped. I was so excited when I bought it.

Ugh. This is not a quality product. The coating is chipping off, and the bottom looks like it's not chipping, but wearing off! I was going to buy the ‘stainless' version, but those reviews talk about flaking off as well. Kitchen Aid, you know there's a problem, so please just FIX IT!!!!

you buy a product like this and expect world class quality-instead you get 3rd world craftsmanship. so sad that KITCHENAID cut the budget on the attachments because no matter how great the machine is, its' only as great as its' weakest part.....a low quality beater

I bought my third beater since having my mixer. I bought this last one almost a year ago and 6 months later, it started to chip. I never see the chips, so I pray everytime that they are not falling into my cookies and cakes. Yes, I do a lot of baking, but this paddle is disappointing. We only wash our dishes buy hand, so its not the dishwasher tearing it up. Going to the stainless steel option and hope that one is better. Its just ridiculous that it's SO expensive.

I LOVE this mixer and all of the attachments I have purchased but this beater does not live up to the KitchenAid quality we all invest in their products for. The beater has paint chipping off so now it's unusable. I do not want to serve my family paint with their cookies!

We love our KitchenAid mixer, but are very frustrated by the quality of the paddle. The paint chips off of it -- not primarily at the bottom, but mostly toward the top and around the edges. It's not a minor problem. We even bought a replacement paddle a couple of years ago, but it began to chip quickly, too. What is up with this, KitchenAid? Doesn't live up to the rest of the mixer quality? Why make such a shoddy accessory?

I bought my second mixer for my beach home. I bought a less expensive model KSM95. The blade is not coated white but is metal. The blade was only hand washed as instructed. However, within one year, the blade was leaving an unsightly residue discoloring light colored recipes and leaving gray/black on your hands and dish cloth. Because I can't find my receipt Kitchen Aid is required that I pay for a white coated blade. Manufacturers defect and Kitchen aid should stand behind their product
