My water bills had been steadily climbing over the past few months and I was unable to find any dripping faucets or leaks anywhere, so I decided the cheapest solution would be to replace the guts of two toilets in the house. I have been using Korky products for about 15 years. They typically last 5-7 years and are much easier and cheaper than locating exact replacement parts for different toilet manufacturers, especially if they are 60 years old. This kit replaces everything in the upper tank of your toilet. It takes about an hour and you might need a second pair of hands when you remove the tank to replace the washers and seal that attach it to the bowl. You will need some tools with this kit, mainly for the bolts that hold the tank to the bowl and maybe to disconnect the supply line from the tank (after shutting off the water valve of course), but all the plastic parts are meant to be hand-tightened. Once you convert to this, you can just buy the flapper and valve kit in the future and save a little money. Replacing just the valve and flapper takes about 15 minutes and requires no tools. All rubber corrodes over time due to the chlorine in the water, so even original parts wear out over time. The red rubber is supposed to last longer than black. Almost everything in this kit is plastic, so obviously it's more fragile than metal parts. It probably won't last as long as original manufacturer parts, but it's easy and cheap to replace it when needed. In addition to clear written instructions, they have an official video that shows you step-by-step how to do it, but it's not very detailed. Numerous other unofficial videos are available too. Adjusting the proper water fill height is a little bit of a trial-and-error experience, but it's not difficult. You can do it after it's installed without having to take everything out again. You can just twist to unlock and then lift the white part (the valve) up or down a notch, then lock it back in place. Hopefully this will cure my water bill
This is my first toilet repair and this Leo made everything so simple to install! It worked so well on my bathroom toilet to stop the constant running that I already purchased a second repair kit to swap out the front toilet! Great way to save on my water bill too! The assembly was minimal and the instructions are simple to follow!
This kit includes all that you need to replace a leaking toilet seal inside the tank. Our toilet kept running water after it was flushed. This was easy to use and had complete directions. Good price. Didn't take but 15-20 minutes to complete. Sturdy parts.
After being hit by a very large water bill a couple of years ago I am a little paranoid when it comes to anything that can leak. Water leaks will never cure themself. Once every month or so I'll add a few drops of food coloring to the tanks in the house to see if everything is still okay and not leaking. One of the 4 toilets showed dye in the bowl the next morning, very slight but enough to realize either the flap or gasket was worn. In the past I've always used Flushmaster but this time decided to give Korky a try. Everything is included in the kit for a total redo of all parts but does not include a buddy or plumber to do the work. (darn it). Takes about a half to 45 minutes as all parts fit exactly, are easy to tighten (don't over tighten), and make the correct adjustments as needed. Some may ask why I did not simply replace the flapper, a two minute job, and call it a day. I've found if one part is worn then chances are if you do not replace everything then it won't be long before you may have to return to the same toilet and do it all over again as some other gasket or part may be the problem. So do you spent $6 for a gasket and take everything apart to replace it or a few dollars more and do everything at once with very little extra work? That's your call.
This item saved me $527.00 from a local plumbing serice to replace a leaking gasket! Note don't use strong chemicals or toilet bowl tabs to keep water smelling fresh and clean (and sometimes pretty Blue.....they destroy the rubber gaskets! Instructions were well illustrated, clear and concise. i installed the item myself, and i have VERY little mechanical skills. :)
This kit has everything you need to start with a brand-new toilet, or a complete replacement of all parts on your current toilet. Super easy installation.
I have 8 family members who live here we have 2 bathrooms so they definitely get used a lot so I have had to replace this in both bedrooms now and they both have worked properly
I liked the quality of the product. The bolts were stainless steel coated, the fill valve was pretty quiet when compared to others. All of the components were completely universal as I have used this package on 3 toilets in my home. Be sure to measure the flapper to ensure you choose the correct package.
This set worked perfectly for our needs and the official company YouTube had excellent installation videos.
Videos make assembly look so easy. I'd rate assembly 3 of 5 and only because I had the tools. I would advise having a pipe wrench available for the large tank nut. All nuts were pretty tight. The large tank gasket has yet to compress, so water still leaks after several days. It is currently unusable. I'll probably have to buy a new gasket or invest in a new toilet. So far, this purchase was a waste of $25.
