Love that this product is complete. Nothing to add but water. Taste, texture and quality are equal to other formulations. And no fat so its more healthful.
I didn't like the fat free but l enjoyed the regular.
I asked for regular and Walmart substituted it for the fat free one. Does not taste like the original
This corn bread mix gets rave reviews from family and myself. Its great making following the box directions, but I like to use butter instead of the oil. It just adds a bit more richness. In winter I made and freeze soup. I do the same with the corn bread. Make it, slice into individual servings and freeze. Than I can have soup and corn bread anytime. By the time the soup is hot, corn bread is defrosted. But you can also pop it in microwave for a few moments to.
Being from the south and now living in Upstate NY, cornbread was one of the biggest things I missed. Then, one day I was cruising the aisles and saw the Krusteaz Honey Cornbread. I thought it would probably be another disappointment. Nope, this is right on. We have it every Sunday morning with breakfast.
I have medical issues that require that I eat only a tiny amount of fat so every little bit pushes me towards the max per meal. I thought I'd have to give up so many foods but found that there are alternatives to everything that may not taste as good at first, but you get used to them and you also don't feel so deprived. I was so happy to find this and accept its limitations. I put some powdered sugar on top of the muffin batter in the pan and it almost tastes like a coffee cake. There is not much of a "corn muffin" flavor to this but I'm okay with that. It's very cakey rather than corn bread-y. It does crumble so eat it over a plate! It's so nice to have something that tastes dessert-like now and again without feeling sick. The only issue with this product is its severely limited availability. I live in NY where there are no Walmarts so I was able to buy a three pack of this product exactly ONE time. After that, it's out of stock or not available for shipping. I cannot find it anywhere else despite going on an all out search. So please, for the sake of your customers that really need fat free products, make it available for shipping again.
Disgusting. I didn't realize that this was fat free and , unfortunately, I purchased several boxes. Not only is it not good, it's HORRIBLE. It actually tastes like something is wrong with it, like the ingredients are spoiled or something. My family thought maybe our butter that we spread on top was bad. Nope, it's just this nasty " cornbread" mix!
I love the Krusteaz brand and have tried their gluten free honey cornbread as well as their regular honey cornbread, both are incredible. I ordered this fat free version as my local Walmart was out for the others. As a bread, it is fine but it has no sweet or honey taste whatsoever. If you are looking for a sweeter cornbread, look somewhere else or add honey to this recipe before you bake.
We love the regular Krusteaz corn bread. Our pick up order got substituted for this fat free version and it is absolutely terrible. I even tried slathering it in honey and it still wasn't good. Weird texture. Weird taste. Tasted like I was eating cardboard (I'm guessing… never tried it.) I'm not one to waste food, but this I was willing to throw away. Absolutely awful.
This corn bread has a sweet flavor and not a gritty texture like other corn bread.
