Learning Resources Coding Critters Rumble & Bumble, Interactive Coding Toy, Ages 4+

This is a really cute toy. Fun to program. Bought it to use as a preschool toy/teaching opportunity with grandson. He is 3 yo, and loves the toy, but the "coding" part is limited to simple commands. His 6 yo sister, however, absolutely LOVES it, and had no problem programming fairly sophisticated commands. She thinks its a hoot!

My 4 year old loves to play and learn with his coding puppy. Going step by step, he has started making obstacles courses for it to get through. It was easy to set up and get started. 3 AAA batteries are required.

This is a cute way of introducing coding! My son enjoyed setting up different ways Rumble can get to Bumble. He was so creative with the different paths and learned pretty quickly how to use the product (and code). I would definitely recommend this to preschoolers to be introduced to the concept of coding!

I bought this for my granddaughter. She is three, but is advanced in her learning. I feel it's never too early to get the learning started.

An imaginative toy that helps children learn the first steps of coding. This toy is aimed at children aged 4 and over. Having introduced my 4 year old to 'Rumble and Bumble' he was very excited to get stuck in. He enjoyed setting up the pieces of the toy and creating different story scenarios for his characters. 'Rumble' has a magnetic nose and pulls along 'Bumble', whilst making a cute noise. Although my 4 year old was easily able to press the functions on 'Rumble' , his understanding and the concept of coding was lost on him. However my six year old loved the coding aspect and has spent many evenings setting up paths for 'Rumble' to follow. A book is also included, which helps give simple instructions to first time coders. Although be aware of younger members getting hold of it as it is easily ripped ! To summarise this toy is a great introduction to coding, covering many aspects of the curriculum in a fun way.

This is very cute and would be amazing if it weren't for one horrible design flaw. When Rumble is left alone for too long, it will start moving in a random way. I presume this is to let you know it's on, but the time isn't very long. Every time I set up a scenario for my son to figure out, the dinosaur starts moving before he's figured out a solution. Have the time it knocks over whatever we've set up. So the only way for us to use this is to set up the challenge, keeping the dinosaur turned off. Then, when my son has come up with a solution to try, we have to turn the dinosaur on and then we can enter the instructions. This flaw makes it miserable to use.
