So, I bought this for my 2 year old daughter who is already showing an interest in "tinkering" with things. She watches me change batteries in her toys and takes my screwdrivers and imitates what I do. So, Botley struck me as a no brainer. When I took it out of the box, it was everything I expected it to be. The directions were clear and concise. I learned how to use it quickly and showed my daughter how to use the direction arrows and to transmit the program. At this point she is not sending Botley through any obstacle courses (obviously) but she does like to randomize the direction buttons she presses and then watch the results. I have no doubt this will serve me well for many years to come. Especially since I enjoy playing with it too haha
Bought this for my 6 year old, we're really into STEM. I gave her a demo of how it works, and she took to it right away. There are lots of different challenges that you can set yourself so it's a toy that will provide hours of entertainment while learning and for years to come
My students love the Code and Go Mouse, but this set does so much more. It is really new to them so they haven't had much time to work with it, but already they love it. If your students liked the Code and Go Mouse they will love this even more!
My son loves this set! He is learning so much, so quickly about how to break down steps and logically plan out (code) Botley's actions. This was one of the most liked gifts I've ever given him.
Purchased for my 5 year olds bday. He loved it and so did my almost 7 year old son. It does take some adult time to read the instructions so be prepared to spend some time teaching, but overall a nice learning toy.
My 6 year-old son enjoyed learning how to use this right away.
I use this product for my 2nd grade classroom and it is amazing. It helps them take turns and learn many tricks .
My 7 and 9yo kids love Botley. They have enjoyed making the robot move around and my 7yo son quickly discovered the "secrets" to make the robot do fun extra tasks. I can't wait to see what more they do with the robot when they have more time again.
My daughter has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Botley. She watched videos and learned all that she could do while she waited. The product is well made and easy to assemble (5 AAA batteries required and not included). The instructions were easy to follow and she was able to use the Robot in line and coding mode right away. The toy allows for children to learn sequencing and how to creatively program. She especially enjoyed the "Easter Eggs" that We're programmed into him. Great educational toy that will grow with your child.
Apparently many of these bots have issues but I didn't read enough reviews. It will go forwards or backwards in coding mode. Once you try to introduce a turn, it just spins in clockwise circles endlessly. Yes, we're using the remote correctly. It line-follows correctly. My daughter would really like to use this as it is intended and this is awfully disappointing for a $50 product. Customer service doesn't respond. Of course, I ordered it early as a gift from Santa and cannot return it.
