Bright and Fresh
Litehouse freeze dried herbs are freeze dried and that means fresh, full flavor and they reconstitute almost instantly as they land on any moist food. I thought this Basil was bright and fresh tasting and it's so workable that you can sprinkle it on pizza (after the oven), sandwiches, in sauce or anywhere you might sprinkle fresh basil, and it doesn't spoil like herbs sold in a clamshell.

when i can't get fresh, I use this. its 1,000 better than regular dried Basil. love it and all other Litehouse freeze dried herbs.

Spice Up Your Meal with Lighthouse Spices
Litehouse spices are one of the best alternatives to using fresh herbs. I prefer the freeze dried preservation of these spices versus the powered spices when available, but I always prefer fresh herbs of my recipes and time allow it.

The only thing fresher, is fresh picked!
I have tried substituting dry basil for fresh many times, and was never satisfied. Well, their is a huge difference between Litehouse "freeze dried" basil and what you have used in the past. Also a tablespoon of Litehouse basil is equal to a tablespoon of fresh. After rehydrating, use Litehouse basil just as you would any chopped fresh basil. Last week I made a basil pesto to be tossed with linguini. The pesto included garlic, enough Litehouse freeze dried, to equal a cup and half of fresh basil before it is chopped, pine nuts, and extra virgin olive oil. The pesto was fantastic, all the color, and sweet basil aroma came together for one of the best basil pesto, linguini supper we ever had. I know if you like basil, you will love Litehouse freeze dried basil as well as their other freeze dried products' "

Great alternative to fresh Basil
This Litehouse basil is a great alternative to fresh Basil. It's not like the regular run-of-the-mill type chopped basil that you usually find in the spice aisle. This is fresh freezed or fresh dried and it still smells and tastes like Basil. My Family loves it and when there's no actually fresh Basil at the Produce section, this is my go-to Basil. Definitely recommend.

Wonderful good-as-fresh aroma and flavor!
This is the best brand of Basil I can find. Somehow they manage to keep all the essential oils so that when you open the bottle, the luscious aroma hits you. And it keeps that way for months. I use it in omelets and in all my Italian recipes with excellent results.
