While searching Walmart's shopping app, I ran across Maggi seasoning. I used it in Germany many years ago. I was so pleased to find it again, I ordered 4 bottles. If you've never tasted Maggi, you need to. It is awesome, and Walmart has it online.
Yum! Maggi is a GREAT substitute for soy sauce, and is delicious on all sorts of food. You need very little if you are dipping sushi, wantons or egg rolls, etc. Calories are ZERO, and the price is low. I was told to try this because I am allergic to SOY, but I loved the taste. This is one of 2 substitutes that made me, and my stomach, not miss soy at all. I buy Maggi, and I buy Braggs Coconut Aminos, no soy. Both are amazing.
I had this product recommended to me and I can't say enough good about it. I'd like it that it is less salty than soy sauce but gives a distinct and full flavor to whatever it's added to. I had never heard about this before and it has made a real difference in the way I cook especially stews and vegetables.
This is the best way round up the flavor of your soup or stew with only a few drops. It's a unique blend of spices and a hint of Sellery, For me it's best for Lentil Soup, Bean Soup and Potato Soup. If you are looking for a hot sauce, this is not it.
This is not a "spicy" product and is not hot. We lived overseas 60 years ago and Maggi seasoning (from Switzerland back then) was a daily condiment. Rediscovering it again three years ago at Walmart was a golden moment and the taste is exactly as I remember it in the Philippines! It works well in soups, on meats, ramen cups, and on rice. The only negative thing is immediately after opening a new bottle is getting product out in teaspoon amounts; it takes lots and lots of patience plus smacking the bottom of the bottle. Once the product in the neck of the bottle is used gentle shaking works.
Maggi is a long standing flavor enhancer (better than Accent) imo. It should be in the Walmart shelf and not gave to be shipped since Walmart carries so much other stuff
Maggi sauce is so versatile, add into recipes while cooking or simply place directly onto cooked foods for delocious taste. Especially good with seafood imo! just watch your sodium if that's high for you.
Unique flavor. it reminds me of soy sauce a little . It is strong so use lightly when experimenting with it. Have been missing this for years and finally found it again.
The Maggi liquid seasoning has a good layer of flavor to add to savory dishes.
The yellow top version (This one) tastes more like soy sauce but is very yummy. Much more economical than the European version (Red top) that tastes so much better and complex. But, for the price, I use this one on meats, stews, soups, etc. It adds a layer of flavor that just can't be beat!
