This waffle maker has been perfect. With 2 little kids %26 another along the way, I am able to make a bunch of waffles using a protein batter %26 fresh blueberries to make affordable, healthy waffles. I freeze them for later which is great to pop them in the toaster when needed (although I usually put in microwave for 10seconds before toaster since they are thicker waffles). Also the best part is the ease to clean this with the removable plates!
Great little unit, folds up for vertical storage. Mostly automatic, bakes waffles to a golden brown crispy but not overdone. Cleanup is a breeze with removable plates and non-stick ceramic construction. I do brush on a little Pam Ultra for easier removal but do not spray it on heavily. For the price it's good quality.
The first 2 attempts were hit it miss. I didn't know how much batter to use. By the 3rd attempt, I figured that 1/3 cup was perfect! It's a little slower cooking than my single waffle maker, but I'm making 4 instead of 1. I do spray it lightly with cooking spray after each use. I haven't had an issue with them sticking.
All previously owned waffle irons are a real pain to clean the grid, but this one is designed with removable plates so they can be thrown in the dishwasher for simple and thorough cleaning. It has worked well for the recipe I use it for (Chaffles)...
This is about the best you can do for value. The non-stick surface is excellent, so there is no need to spray or otherwise prepare the surfaces. There is a light that indicates when the waffle is ready, which is handy, but there is no heat adjustment if one would like a waffle less cooked. (More cooked, no problem, just wait a while after the ready light.) The heat seems to cook everything evenly. I don't know why somebody would say otherwise. POTENTIAL PROBLEM: If too much batter is put in, an overflow makes a mess. Too little batter produces waffles with voids. The correct amount is a bit of a challenge using just the eye for measurement. I have no idea if the device will be durable, but as it stands, it makes a good waffle that is easy to get out of the machine.
I wanted to replace my super nice Belgian waffle maker with one that made four smaller ones at a time so I could save a freezer stash and fit them in the freezer and this was the only one they had in store. Price was definitely right with a couple things to note. Kind of stinky at first so required a preliminary wash and I trashed the very first batch as it kind of aborted the scent but hasn't been a problem since. Also as some other reviews have said it doesn't cook evenly on both sides so I flip them half way through. I also wish there was some sort of heat seating/timer/doneness indicator but you'll find your sweet spot. I do about 2 minutes on each side. Otherwise it works well for the price and I do like that the plates are removable and washable.
just my opinion but definitely needs the light to dark adjustment so you can Tell how crispy or brown you're getting the waffles. it works ss described, didn't stick, we used some spray. this was substituted in my order and was $39, so returning and buying a different one to try. if next model i try isn't improved I'll update this review.
Used it once. ONCE. The next time I go to use it, will not heat up to the full extent and will not cook the waffles. Complete waste of money. And I will never purchase the All State protection plan again. Useless. Says I have to go through manufacturer first, etc. I no longer even have the box it came in as I purchased in March and only used once until now. Wish I'd never bought the thing. What a waste.
The first time we used this iron the black protective coating on the cooking surface came off on a small spot. We used it as directed and we're really disappointed in the quality since the design seemed to be what we were looking for in a waffle iron.
There is no adjustment. No beep to indicate when waffles are done, you literally have to stand there over it and wait for the green light to come on, which is so dim you have to darken the kitchen to see it. Then, waffles are uneven, parts almost raw while others burnt. Finally, there are a ton of nooks, crannies, and screw holes that batter runs into if you even slightly over-fill it. The waffle plates are extremely thin and cheap-feeling, and they are not dishwasher safe. Just spend the extra few dollars and get a good unit.
