i am very pleased with the mason jars. but to let you know. i keep the rings and throw away the lids. i will never ever trust them again to know they all didn't seal my jelly or vegetables. i trust Ball and nothing else. and for the price way to high. but like i said i am pleased. and it was pack very well. i was also pleased with that. just bring down the price. food is high enough.

I've been using these jars for glassware and leftovers for ages. They're great for canning, and for the price per glass, they beat anything from Ikea or the dollar store. Plus, they're super easy to clean, difficult to break, recycle if chipped (unlike most glassware), cheap to give away, and I never have to hunt down some Tupperware for leftovers. This has really simplified my kitchen life. I also get the larger variety for ice tea, so check those out too!

Great alternative to higher price Ball jars. Use for the jam I make and sell. The jars are perfect. One drawback is the cardboard tray - the ends are not sealed, they just slip in together. So, when you're carrying a tray of FULL jars, the ends come out easily and everything crashes. VERY irritating. I have to use sealing tape on each corner of the tray to avoid accidents.

The jar and ring are great quality. Possibly the jars may be slightly more prone to breakage than the ‘big' name brands. The flat seal though, I had multiple failures with pressure canning and several with water bath processing. I've chosen not to use the seal piece in the future. Overall though, they are a decent jar that should offer many years of use.

Yes, I would recommend the jars overall with the caveat that not all jars have sealed for me. I think it is due to the sealing compound texture or thickness. I love the jars themselves, but I am disappointed in the number of lids that failed to seal. I have resorted to using the jars with different lids to ensure proper sealing.

I used both these jars and Ball jars in the same batches of jam. Not all of the Mainstays jars sealed whereas all the Ball jars sealed. The glass at the rim does not feel as smooth as the Ball jars. I might try using Ball lids on the Mainstays jars, since I'm not sure if the lids or jars are the issue.

The jars worked great. The lids failed to seal. I had 100% failure of the lids to seal. I had to reprocess my batch and used brand-name lids, which worked with these jars. I would recommend the jars because the price is very good, but replace the lids before using.

The jars are very nice, but the lids did not seal. Out of 36 jars, only 14 were sealed. Replaced the lids with new Ball lids and reprocessed the mango jam. All sealed perfectly with the Ball lids. I might as well have purchased the Ball jars from the start for a few dollars more. An amateur canner might not notice that the jars did not seal, and put their friends and family in the hospital! The Mainstays are a definite no!

Out of 24 of these jars used for jellies 10 did not seal. After 15 minutes rolling boil in a water bath…. Never sealed. Very frustrating. The jars are pretty, but the lids are useless for canning. I will not purchase again. Big name brand is $2.50 more, buying 12 brand name lids to replace the ones that come with this makes them even more than ifbid bought the “brand” with good flat lids included in the first place. Soo very disappointing.

WARNING: DO NOT USE FOR HOT LIQUID!! The bottom of one of my jars broke clean off with broth at only 172°F. That is WELL below boiling. So despite the listing saying it is suitable for hot canning, please do not use these for such a purpose. They're fine for storing basically anything else and seem to have a good seal, at least.
