This is one tough Master padlock! I have used it on my gate outside and to date it is holding up well to the elements. If you are worried about someone breaking into something, put this lock on it! The boron-carbide is stronger and harder than most other lock materials. We have in the past purchased other locks made by other companies and had issues with the lock rusting or corroding shut. Last summer and this summer, there has been issues with break ins into barns and sheds and tools being stolen so now that we have the Master Lock Wide Magnum Laminated Steel Padlock, we don't worry about someone breaking in. This lock is thick enough and strong enough to deter the neighborhood thugs from trying to get in to steal what they can pawn. We sleep safer knowing that our belongings are protected by Master Lock padlocks! We can rest assured that when we need to open the lock, it will open and relock up our belongings time and time again without locks rusting shut or malfunctioning. This Master Lock Padlock is a very sturdy well built lock. You can tell the quality the first time you unlock or lock it, it has a very secure and strong feel to it, a vast difference from my previous padlock. I have the lock on my gate outside my home in direct weather both sunshine and rain, but the brass outer casing shows no signs of weathering at all, the lock still looks the same now as it did on the first day I got it. The shank is obviously made to withstand more abuse than your average lock, and the locking mechanism still operates just as smoothly as it did on day one, despite all the bad weather we have had lately , which is more than I can say for my past padlock, I was constantly having to apply WD-40 to it. So if ability to withstand any weather conditions and strength and security are your criteria for a padlock than this is the lock for you. Highly Recommend .

We are very pleased with our new Master Lock padlock M1XDBLF 1-3/4 inch (45mm) Wide Magnumu00AE Laminated Steel Padlock with Brass Outer and 1-1/2 inch (38mm) Shackle. It has a laminated steel core for strength and brass and zinc out for weather resistance. If locks can be attractive, this one is beautiful! It is working very well on our gate. It comes with two keys which I have marked with a tiny piece of paper and taped it on them so we will know what the keys are for. It is super strong and a large size hook, not sure what it is really called. This lock would be great for many uses. The shape of the lock itself seems modern and contemporary, it is comfortable to hold in the hand and has a heavy weight. We are happy to recommend to friends and family. Master Locks been around forever and looks like there here to stay so that's wonderful too. We would buy it again if and when we're in need of another lock. I prefer the locks with keys as opposed to a combination number as well. The packaging is very nice as well. You won't be disappointed with this item so give it a try!

Masterlock padlock. This padlock is very heavy duty. I put it on a scale and it weighs a 1/2lb! 4 pin cylinder Ball-bearing locking for pry resistance. It's got a gold finish and comes with 2 keys. It has 2 body bumpers to keep it from scratching up surfaces-1 thin on top and a thicker one on the bottom. The package says weather resistant. The shackle is made in an octagonal cut. It's supposed to be the best cut resistance but I won't be testing that. It's a pain to get the padlock and key off of the package card. To get the keys and padlock from the package: You'll have to cut the plastic tab off, which is holding the keys to the package which are tucked half-way inside a little plastic pocket, then take one of the keys to unlock the padlock and slide the shackle from the plastic hasp to remove it. I had to use small wire cutters to remove the key tab. We're using ours for the shed door.

I'm very happy with this padlock especially with the brass color. It's beautiful. It's a heavy lock and has a dual armor construction with a laminated steel core and reinforced outer body plus a level 9 security rating. It has a ball bearing locking system for maximum pry resistance. This Magnum padlock exceeds professional grade and safely for trucks, trailers, garages etc. This Magnum lock is very solid and reliable, after all it's a Master Lock with a solid reputation that speaks for itself. This would be my first choice for a lock.

This lock comes with two keys. The package states that the strength/quality of the lock is 9 out of 10 and that it is resistant to cutting. I didn't try to damage it but it does seem quite sturdy. It was difficult to get the packaging open, you're supposed to use scissors but I guess the scissors I was using weren't as strong as the plastic on the package. My spouse was able to get the plastic piece holding the lock in, after I weakened it for him, of course. The first time I tried to unlock it, I had the key going the wrong way but I was easily able to unlock it once I turned it 180 degrees. The lock mechanism popped open with a quick easy turn of the key. The keys and lock are both labeled with Master, making it easier to identify which key goes with the lock. This lock would be good anywhere a sturdy padlock might be needed.

Pros: Solid body and nearly cut (not grind) proof shackle. Aesthetically pleasing and would expect it to hold up well in weather. Cons: I was able to pick this lock in about 30 seconds. I did not detect the presence of any security pins which explains why it was so easy. I am by no means a professional locksmith.
